    Thanks for your post
    Please visit Supercheap Auto

    • I have found their range to be very limited and quite expensive in comparison to what is available through ebay.

What features are you after? e.g bluetooth, android auto / apple carplay, gps, touchscreen etc.

I'm looking for a head unit at the moment too, been doing research on the joying head units. From what i've read

    Pros:
    Cheap
    Full Android

    Cons:
    lag at times
    radio isn't clear
Sound from calls isnt clear also

Not sure if the newer versions have fixed it. Maybe, other users who have this head unit could clarify on this?

  • If you have the patience wait for JB hifi car audio sales usually 30% off.
Can always buy 2nd hand on gumtree etc.

    • Yea that's true, I'm not in a rush at the moment, mainly at the researching faze, thank you

  • Do you have a prefered brand? Would you consider single din, and then an empty pocket?

I got a Pioneer X7800DAB for $228 which has everything.

    • thank you ill check it out

  • Can recommend Joying head units. Installed one in my Kluger a couple of years ago and it is great. It makes the $800 JBL upgrade unit in our new aurion seem like antiquated junk in every aspect.
They have an aust warehouse and can be purchased thru the link below or ebay.

There are similar looking chinese units around but Joying has the quality and performance the others lack.

Yea i actually had a look at that website but i was kinda in the edge about non-branded headunits

      • I was a bit sceptical also back when I was looking. After seeing how poor some of the big name expensive units were I looked for more reports on the Joying units. I took the risk and now would not bother with any other brand of head unit in a car. The radio reception is twice as good or more than the std Toyota unit, the sound quality, navigation and ease of installation were all better than expected.
Having the Australian warehouse makes for very fast delivery also.
It is worth watching as many videos as you can on youtube about installing after market head units. It does make the job a lot easier.

Plenty of current spec Toyota genuine Bluetooth head units floating around on eBay/Gumtree. Voice recognition, Bluetooth handsfree/streaming, USB and AUX ports, RDS, and whatever else. Plug and play and fits your 200mm Toyota size Double DIN perfectly, just needs an antenna adapter, about $10. Part number (to match the illumination in your Camry) PZQ60-00511. New one here includes required antenna adapter, used ones can be had as cheap as $100.

thank you, ill have a look

Oh, dead easy to fit as well, no soldering or crimping required.

        • Correct. Joying ask for you to supply car info and a dash photo so they can send you the correct wiring loom for your car. Plug & play.

  • why double din? if you want something with a screen and gps its good, but if youre only after something basic it might not be much different to a single din. and single din lets you stick in a tray for some extra storage in the dashboard
i used to have a decent sony, like this https://www.jbhifi.com.au/gps-car-audio/sony/sony-dsxa400bt-…

  • How much is the installation these days? Never bought one because the install was $200 back in the day.

    • A good unit will come with the correct plugs to fit your cars wiring. Installation is surprisingly easy on Toyotas.. not sure about others. Youtube has a ton of how to videos on it.
Mine only needed to pop out a couple of plastic panels, undo two bolts holding the radio and unplug the connectors.
      Install was just the reverse.

      • You don't want to break clips when popping panels. They don't pop very easily as well.

        • Yes. There is a right and a wrong way. Cheap to replace if one does break though.

        • @xywolap: I thought the panel must be replaced if clips break.

        • @El Grande:
Some clips are removable… it depends on the panel, the clip used, etc.
There is a right and wrong way to remove them including the use of panel removing tools. These are cheap on ebay.
Without breaking the entire process down to minute facts i will just suggest that if anyone is intending to diy install just do as much research online first. There is a ton of it around.
If after looking at it you decide it is not for you then just pay an installer.
