Citibank Debit and Samsung Pay

Is anyone having trouble connecting their citibank mastercard debit card with Samsung Pay? The website says all citibank debit and credit cards work with samsung pay but I keep having it bounce back when i try to register…

Disapointing

  • I've got mine in without issues. I've used it overseas too.

Restart the phone and try again? Clear the app cache too maybe. Also, is there an update for the Samsung pay app?

    • So thats Citibank Mastercard Debit card, I called up and citibank are now telling me debit cards are incompatible

      • That's weird. I'll have to try it. I'll need to tf money first.

It's definitely in my card pile on Samsung pay

  • Use Android Pay instead ;)

    • Not compatible with Citibank. You’d have to use Citipay, which sucks as you have to set it as default otherwise it doesn’t work

Are you using A device with Australian ROM or a grey import? As I couldn’t registered my card until I had it on Australian ROM

Grey import, this is probably the issue

      Thanks

EDIT: may I also ask what tutorial you used to change the rom to AU

        fairly simple,
I didn't use a guide however theres plenty in xda-developers and ozbargain (legit :P)
be sure to backup your phone and the data e.g sms and stuff thru Samsung software to get the most out the the restore

firstly you need to download the rom, I shall suggest sammobile for this. Be sure to have 2 hour spare as thats how long it took me for having an free account to download despite having 100mbs….
files can also be download in Xda as well.

another thing you would need is to download Odin from xda

        1. Plug your phone into PC and wait for drivers to be installed (automatic) / Download FW or other files (be sure to do this first before proceeding to the next step)
        2. Open Odin
        3. Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Bixby + Power + Volume Down buttons /for s8 I assume you have?)
        4. Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
        5. Add the firmware files to their designated slots (eg BL file in BL slot)
        6. Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
        7. Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
        • Thank you :)

  • Strangest thing, so I recently changed my phone number with Citibank and that is what was triggering it to fail. I contacted citibank via facebook and they said phone numbers take 3 business days to process and that could have been the issue, today (3rd business day from changed phone number) i tried and it worked instantly!

Phone is on Grey import ROM, citibank debit mastercard. Issue was just phone number change :)
