Crappy tablet from Banggood

A while back I saw a bargain for an Android tablet from Banggood, so I grabbed it. 3 months later, the On button stops working. It feels "stuck". Can't turn it on anymore, although when I plug it in it wakes and I can use it.

Banggood have been complete so-and-sos. Basically said "too bad".

What options do I have? I've asked ACCC, just awaiting a response.

    ACCC? What are you hoping they will do for you?

    Suck it up, you played the lottery of no-name crap from China and lost this time round.
    The good news is that you win a lot more often than you lose, that's why everyone still plays!

    I don't think you have any? I'm not a lawyer and I'd love love love to be wrong, but they're an international company, the ACCC works in Australia, they can't affect laws in another country as far as I know. They might be able to tell people to be more careful of Banggood but I think thats it? Maybe they can stop shipping of certain products if they pose a health risk, but other then that, you unfortunately get what you pay for :(.

    Australian law does not apply overseas. ACCC cant help.

      ACL does apply, it's just near impossible to enforce;

      • Where does it say that in the link you posted?

        If you buy online from an overseas trader, Australian Consumer Law may not apply and may only offer you limited protection. This could make it difficult for you to benefit from a warranty or to get a refund, replacement or repair if the goods you receive are defective.

        Looks like it doesn't to me

    Based on my experience with Banggood I'm amazed that the item even arrived in the first place.

    Did they spell out a warranty duration in their product description and now refuse to honour it? In that case you might have a chance with a PayPal dispute based on "significantly different to description". 180 days from purchase.
