    this thing does not have any HDMI inputs;

    Also, it wouldn't surprise me if this model is like the SC-BT200 they offered free with tv promotion from a year back which could not decode DTS over optical input; it could only handle decoding of dolby digital over optical input even though the device itself had a DTS decoder for DVD/blu-ray.

    The SC-BT200 was also a nightmare to leverage using the logitech harmony remote, combined with a dreadful startup time of something like 30 seconds.

    I'm not saying the SC-PT70 is the same, but I would do my research first anyway.

    The lack of DTS support over optical was a major PITA, as my appletv could send out DTS over the optical audio output, but the stupid SC-BT200 could not handle it.

  • lol…pass

  • Be careful of this unit,the description and specifications that both Panasonic Australia and retail websites
    provide don't match the product. Panasonic Australia website has both Digital Audio input & Output (Optical) available in their specifications.

    I received a system on Saturday that I purchased from Topbuy.com.au for $150 and either I'm just not seeing it but the DVD/decoder unit has no Digital Audio Optical links(click link below to see picture of rear panel)

    • I'd be going with the specs as per the panasonic website the ALLBIDS site doesn't seem to have full specs… not sure why you'd have to be careful if Panasonic specs say it's got both.

      Which system did you buy? Was it the Panasonic?

      • Sorry didn't add that in my post, it's the SC-PT70 same system as offered here.

  • @Gilmour >>> You should be able to return it based on the unit specs being misrepresented…still a reasonable unit for the price. I have the higher model of this (that has optical out) and it has done a pretty good job overall. One quirk is that when you play avi files off a USB stick, the picture goes jittery if the scene has too much detail (such as forest), might just be a slow USB stick ?

    • I'm definitely going to send it back, It's a good value little system that was going to be used in a spare room but the missing Digital optical input completely defeats the purpose I wanted it for. Sent an email to Panasonic to see what they have to say.

  • looks great but the lack of divx playback destroys it for me

    such a waste it even has a usb port but only for music files or panasonic cameras….

    • mpeg4 I'm fairly sure is Divx

      Even more suspect on the specs given for this, my SC-PT70 doesn't have one(wasn't listed in the specs on the Topbuy website I purchased from) and Panasonic Australia do not show USB being present for this model.
