        Cool, what plane?

Where do you want to go? Not all Christmas' in the US are white.

    • depends on where you go, some are black

    • New York.

I think you should consider what you want to see and do. Traveling at that time of year is chaos, especially in snowy areas. Flights and accommodation all cost more.

Your post contains next to no information. The USA is one of the biggest and most diverse countries on the world.

Flights at that time of the year will probably be $2000 or so. If you are lucky you’ll get flights for just under.

Accommodation will be doable under $300 aud a night if you book early.

How about you make it easier for us and tell us your budget?

Where do you want to go? What do you want to do ? Stay for how long? All that info should be in the OP…

I was in NYC for christmas once. It snowed and was beautiful. The rest of the time it was cold with short days, everywhere I went was closed (Coney Island) or too icy/bleak to explore (central park, staten island) next time I’ll stick to summer.

NYC in the winter would be awful. The snow is grey and mushy and disgusting and you're more likely to slip and hurt yourself on the icy footpath than have beautiful white snow to look at. Go somewhere in the country. Maine or Vermont are probably really nice. Or even consider southern Canada maybe?

If you want to see New York, I would probably go in Spring or Autumn (not during their 'Spring Break' times) so it isn't too hot or too cold and it's less busy (will still be busy but you know what I mean). I went in August and it was really hot (and super busy since it's their main holidays), if I go again it will be in the Spring (though I would rather visit Canada next time, have already been to the west coast and east coast now).

Thanks so much for the input!

I agree. I would avoid a big city for a white Xmas. Grey slush everywhere.

  • Winter in New York is a nightmare… not pleasant at all in the city where most visitors congregate. And if the weather is bad flights get cancelled too.

    Try:
Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Utah, Colorado, or Minnesota, or Alaska
