Help Me Choose a 110 Inch Screen for Theatre Room

Hi fellow Ozbargainers. I am in the market looking for a decent projector screen and have come across Elegance Screen Symphony being sold by Digital Cinema.

Just wondering if anyone has used these screens before? For some reason their screens have no reviews on the company's website.

Only reason I am leaning towards it is because it's coming in a nicely priced package with the projector I am after.

Any comments/advice would be appreciated :)

  • Look into this. Elite Screens is a well regarded international brand. Sold by Elite Electronics. Potentially a 5% discount.

I find DigitalCinema is generally very expensive. When the projection+screen is cheaper than the screen alone….Hmmm

    • Thanks for sharing the link, I'll check these out too.
Interestingly the digital cinema package is coming with the screen, mount and hdmi cable so looks like a good deal but im just curios about the screen since I've never seen it in a store here in Melbourne.

  • I remember the same projector is around $800 two months ago. Edit: If you need the projector alone.

    • Thanks mate. Im setting up a theatre room so will actually need everything. Incase I decide to buy a different screen from another supplier, will get the projector seperate then.

  • I've got one of those Elegance screens in 130". Nothing to complain about here. It does the job fine.
Was very simple to assemble and put up. Hardest part was lining up the hooks on the wall.

    • Hey mate, is the screen smooth or does it have a mesh like texture? These guys are actually based in Sydney n since I'm in Melbourne, there is no way to actually check it myself. I saw some cheap ones at Harvey Norman and they had a very rough surface where as the ones that are being sold by The Big Picture ppl are quite smooth (screen technic). Any idea how the elegance sceeen compares to the ones by screen technic?

      • It's pretty smooth, but still a matte finish. See the photos here, on the back view you can see a close up of where the screen is folded around the stretch bars.

A rougher surface might help with reducing reflections, or it's possible it's acoustic material. You need to check the specs, specifically the gain of the screen.

        • Oh now I see it! I didn't realize they actual screen was visible in the area where it is folded at the back. I recon this should be fine with the projector I am going for but will do some more research on gain of the screen :)

  • Do projectors lag when playing video games? When I play xbox on my brothers 4k Hicense TV there is almost a full second of lag, probbaly due to the upscaling. Does a similar thing happen with high end projectors?

    • Not entirely sure mate, will come back to you once I have the projector installed.

    • I clocked Horizon zero Dawn on my JVC X9000 rig and it was tolerable. There was tearing when spinning around a vast view, but I never suffered during battles. This was single player only, though. I haven't tried multiplayer gaming on a projector yet. You need to look at the input lag of your TV/Projector to try and gauge how good/bad it'll be.
