Best Place for Vitamin Tablets?

Looking to get a multi vitamin and fish oil.

Have looked at a few chemists; price line, chemist direct, chemist warehouse. Even coles seem to have a 1/2 price sale on fish oil going on this week but haven't found any better value than these:

Fish oil: https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/63404/Nature-39-s-Ow…

Multi vitamin: https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/Buy/49400/Cenovis-Multiv…

Any other places I could check out or is around these prices about the lowest it will go?

    Iherb?

    They have a greater range/quality.

    • Is there going to be that much difference between brands in terms of quality?

In my research…absolutely. A lot of them are generic made-in-China synthetic substances but not all of them. Take plain old calcium for example which I did some research on this week, most calcium supps are calcium carbonate, not readily absorbed. There are also calcium citrate, calcium malate or Calcium Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite (and others). Some calcium supps are just calcium but we know that without magnesium, K2 and D3 the calcium cant to it's thing properly.

I ended up buying this one: https://www.drbvitamins.com/products/calcium-bone-maker-comp…

So a bit of research will get you better results in the long term, also reading though the reviews and amazon, Iherb etc are not a bad idea either.

  • iHerb is good for hard to find products and usually well priced. Now Foods, Doctors Best are probably best brands they have.

For example, if you want apple cider vinegar or lemon water, but don't want to erode your enamel, you'll need these in tablet form, which are available on iHerb but generally very hard to find anywhere else. Also, Orange Triad is available on iHerb, which is arguably best multi vitamin on the market. I don't think I've ever seen it anywhere in physical stores, even supplement stores which I frequent a lot.

iHerb shipping is about 10 days or so.

But if you need it today, Chemist Warehouse is good. Bioglan products are good quality, especially their probiotics, which are much better than iHerb's. Chemist Warehouse tend to alternate weeks when a product is on sale.

    (Cash rewards available for both).

  • Place? Store in fridge. Beware recent analyses of fish oils - a lot of them approaching rancidness (rancidity?).

Best place for vitamins is in whole plant foods. Except Vitamin D (sun) and B12 (supplement). :)

    • True. In theory. Given the depleted nature of most soils these days even plants are deficient. I'm not even convinced that the nutritional profile of organic food is 'that' much better (they do have way less pesticides though and that is worth the rice on it's own. :) )

  • Definitely https://www.swansonvitamins.com < huge range and good prices. Ships from the US but still cheaper than buying from here.

  • I find supermarkets are not not cheap even when 50% off because they only sell smaller bottles of vitamins so it works out more expensive. I usually buy at the Chemist Warehouse 50% off sale but have got good deals from Vitamin Warehouse, Pharmacy Warehouse and ePharmacy in the past.

Unless you're pregnant or your doctor has told you you need them, taking vitamins is just making expensive urine
