Officeworks eBay % off Boycott

What do OzB's think of Officeworks new eBay storewide % off pull out policy?

Just a recap:
"Thank you for visiting the OfficeworkseBay store.
Our products are temporarily unavailable while eBay has a site wide event.
Because Officeworks is determined to ensure that we offer our customers, like you, low prices every day no matter how and where you choose to shop with us, it is important that all of our customers are getting the same low price in our stores, on our website, with our app, or on our eBay store.
Thus our products will be available shortly after the site wide event has finished."

In my case they lost the sale of several hard drives and surely I am not the only one taking my business elsewhere.

    Fewer sales only hurts them at the end.
    I have also noticed that some smaller sellers just mark up their prices when such sitewide events are on to give you the illusion of a 10 percent discount, where as you are probably paying approximately the same as when it was not on sale. At least they didnt do that.

    eBay eats the discount, not the seller, so why do they even care? Bizarre decision.

      They are probably sick of people asking them to pricematch themselves on ebay.

        I'd guess this is right.
        They don't want to p*ss off their in-store customers who find out they could have gotten it much cheaper online.

        That's so stupid though, surely as soon as they explain its eBay that is providing the discount not OW, any customer would understand. Especially seeing the advertised prices are the same and the discount is just applied at the checkout. I wouldn't blame them for that.

    They don’t pricematch competitor prices where coupons are applied to arrive at the final price to be matched. Then what’s the fuss with the ebay sale when the price reduction is through a coupon.

    I cannot understand their logic. Maybe someone at OW is unhappy/lazy to fulfil the unusually large volume of online orders placed during ebay sales.
