Can We Moderate the 'Price Jacking' Comments?

I'm as skeptical about Ebay sales as the next guy, but I don't think the price jacking comments are of any value. The meta price jacking comments are worse ("I'm here for the comments about the comments about price jacking").

We all get it - some sellers jack their prices up, mainly because they have to shoulder part of the cost of the discount. But these comments add nothing of value. A better approach might be to provide some actualy analysis like "this product was 18% cheaper last week"

I come to the comments to see what the conditions are, if there are any concerns or deals. Not tired memes and meta (profanity).

Can we moderate people who only come to make stupid comments and add nothing to the discussion.

          No you can’t

I see your point but I'd rather some 'Alarm' over the price jacking in the sale. I know to stay away then, instead of getting caught up in the hype.

Impossible to prevent and stop for the most part, moderators already mark off topic, pointless comments to some degree.

You could argue the same point on so many of the comments here and it is only increasing as the community also grows.
Caged Egg and Gun comments —> repeated ad nauseam.
Grammar correcting comments —> possibly patronising, people here may not have English as first language, may have learning disability, this isn't a formal workplace or university etc.
Comments such as "thanks for letting us know" and the preceding comments.
Apple vs Android comments that don't add any value to the initial post or product.
"But you didn't + vote" comments — many reasons people don't do this immediately, and the way the voting system is configured you might be smart to withhold a positive vote till the product reaches your hand in a satisfactory condition.

    Etc Etc

    • you forgot the "I was ripped off by eBay seller, HELP!"

It beats your 9055 smart ass comments with nothing useful to add

  • So annoyed how some sellers jack prices. Should we boycott eBay? Or just the seller? Should we vote?

  • I think OP needs to change name to Begrudge

We need a 'I'm a price jacking ebay seller [AMA]'

Can we moderate the pink communists?

I like the price jacking comments. Why shouldn't the tired old comments be used on tired old dodgy behaviour that doesn't seem to get punished?

  • +2

Agreed. It's always spam by a specific handful of people each time.

    • What about the person who always posts Any bargains?

      :P

  • can we also moderate the high yeild investment car jokes and the bikies response.
also can we not have any jokes about xiaomi products.

    thanks

    • What about the toilet paper / toilet seat ones, they give me the sh…..

  • You would have to admit its misleading, I would rather they put the actual discount so rather than say 20% off but we all can clearly see they have added about 10% to the prices from what they normally sell them for

Keep some constancy and just say 10% and earn some consumer confidence, trust and build a better reputation. rather than the games. it would stop these comments too everyone wins….

  • Believe it or not, a lot of comments aren't of any value on this site, perhaps even this one.

Where there's a system that allows voting, some people will seek to actively chase the positive side of it, whether it be Facebook, Reddit, etc.

    $80,000 high yield investment.

  • Bottom line should be 'if you are happy with the price and you really NEED the item just buy it".
Buying something because its cheap or discounted is NOT a bargain, price jack or not.

  • Some will say the same about the bikies/high yield investment/Bordened, they just don’t feel the need to make a topic about it lol
Atleast the price jacking comments are helpful, I know not to buy it at the price if it can be had for cheaper.
