    No Sapphire glass :(

You're right, I was just thinking about that. One big letdown, but certainly a great price for a specialised watch, if I was anything close to an active/hiking/mountaineering person, I would've jumped on this. I love the Promaster Land/Air/Sea collection.

IMO better off with a Casio Solar Protrek Triple sensor.

I used to use mine all the time, hiking and kayaking etc Now I Prefer the Suunto Ambit 3 Vertical has a GPS (great on my mountain bike to record rides etc) but needs regular charging becasue of that.

    • Curious omission given the mix of features.

Much appreciated PJC. May I have your permission to add this to the OP?

Tempting.. but got stuck into Smart watches.. hard to go back

    • +3

Am the other way… tried smart watches and decided to go back.

    • Which one?

      • Too many to count. lol. Once you go 4G enabled smartwatch, hard to justify anything else.

It's a very personal preference thing, watches. Personally, I don't think smartwatches exude horological mastery, they have to be charged often and and are effectively just a microchip, a touchscreen display and a band. I like watches that have exquisite movements in them, the way that all the gears and hands are engineered to fit into that circular case is an engineering feat.
But again that's just me, I know everyone has different opinions on these things and that is to be respected.

$899 isn't just the RRP - Shiels are charging that right now.

    • +1

      Indeed. And so does Myer.
I've never seen this watch drop to this price, ever, which is what motivated this deal post.

  • if only they had this on ebay for the $399 instead of $499 and the use the 10% coupon.

    • That would be awesome, but I doubt Starbuy would be able to absorb the eBay + PayPal fees (this is not even considering the 10% discount, which eBay funds).

I really like the design of this watch. Ive never had a citizen, are they any good?

Ive never had a citizen, are they any good

Yes, I can personally attest to the quality of the Citizen brand, being an owner of four of their exquisite horological masterpieces.
There are members here with more, and they can all also attest to their quality.
The Eco-Drive technology has powered some watches for 15-20+ years, without missing a beat.
These are brilliant watches at a really great pricepoint.

great, thanks for the feedback on them.

I have bought 3 from Starbuy, and you can even pickup from their office at Pitt Street.

thanks for the info. Im still deciding depending on the size, my wrist isn't the biggest.

        • What size is your wrist? This watch is considered large at 46mm

        • +1

@WatchNerd: never measured it. I did now. 18.5cm of perimeter. Just looked up and saw that the Gear S3 is 46 bezel size too. SO should work. Now whether I should spend $400 or not is the question haha.

@Bruno28: Go for it. This is the lowest price that this particular watch has ever fallen to.
If you're still deciding, remember that OzBargain's motto is "Buy now, Think later".

@MathNerd: ended up getting…. Lets see if I made a good decision.
Its my 2nd ever watch that I have ever bought (excluding the smart watches). My first was one of the Casio ProTrek over 13 years ago. And that still works like day one.

        • @Bruno28: Good decision, thanks for making use of this deal. I'm sure Starbuy appreciates your purchase.

        • @MathNerd:
Mt watch arrived. It does look nice and feels solid.
          My only 2 complaints:
          1. The rotating bezel has no notches when spinning and it feels like its rubbing metal on metal, not very smooth. It even makes squeaking sound. And if you tap on bezel you hear a loose metallic sound. My gear S3 bezel feels a lot better and smoother, but also has the tapping loose sound.
          2. The Band has some lateral play. Only about 0.5mm. Gear s3 has not play.

Any solutions to the squeaky bezel and to give it some smoothness? Add some sort of lithium grease?
