Car Stereo Repair in Sydney or Illawarra

Hi all, I bought an Android car stereo online from China about 10 months ago that was working well until it just stopped working one day! I contacted the reseller and they said they could fix it under warranty if I sent it back which seemed reasonable. Since then I've gotten some postage quotes and it will be between $110-250 to send it back!! So I'm thinking I'd be better off to get it repaired locally by either a business or a hobbyist in the Sydney or Illawarra area. Had anyone here got any suggestions for who might be able to help?

Thanks!

  • What brand is the head unit?

  • how much was it ?

prolly cost more to fix , or ended up paying yet unfixed

    • Was about $600AU with a reverse cam, canbus, adaptors etc for factory fit after delivery and currency conversion. Not even 12 months so worth the repair, but probably not worth sending back for repair…

  • That's a lot of money to spend on a headunit from China.
What's wrong with it? Is it turning on?

    • Yeah, true. I usually buy a generic unit and then fascia kits and plug adaptors. Decided to pay more for the factory version for simple install this time, wish I went with the generic now! It won't turn on at all, looks like a power issue. I'm hoping it's just a generic component or something that needs replacing, they did send me a picture to check something like this (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnet_wire) wasn't touching the board where it shouldn't be. I removed the case and jiggled the component slightly but it made no difference, I'm no good with that sort of thing…
