Who Is Cheapest Electricity and Gas Provider in Wyndham Vale, Victoria?

This is my post. Sorry in advance of anything is wrong.

I did lot of research for cheap electricity and gas provider. Lots of confusion. Some retailers show big discount number and at the same time, their charges are more. Right now I'm in alinta and they are giving 43%discount only on usage, not on total bill.

Can anyone suggest me the best provider?

  • Is this 43% nested or as a whole?
For example, I am with Energy Australia 40% which is comprised of a nested 40% discount = 3% + 37% off usage.

EnergyAustralia's rates are much higher than most… their discounts are a joke. Lumo or Pacific Hydro or Momentum are much better

      • Thanks. I'll def look into it.
        Cheers

Mate, called Tango Energy (Formerly Pacific Hydro) .. and wow! They smash Energy Australia in prices for Electricity.
I'm definitely changing over to them.

        Thanks for your tip.

        Cheers

        • But I can see some connection and disconnection fee. Does it mean, we have to that amount when we change to them?

        • @PChinna:

No fee as i am transferring and not leaving my premises.

Only you pay a fee if you need disconnection i.e. leaving a rental to another house.

          Cheers

Use the Victorian Government compare site, it figures out stuff like pay on time discounts and daily charges etc.

I did lot of research for cheap electricity and gas provider

    So you have the answer?

    • If I have answer, I might not posted this question here. I did lot of research and ended up with lot of confusion.

  • A clothing store is selling a shirt for 27% off. Another sells the same shirt for 32% off. Which is cheaper?

I wish it was that simple.

But as we know with Electricity companies, it is not. Is this surprising?

      You have to factor:

      • Supply charge.
      • Usage KWh.
      • Peak and off-peak times.
      • The way the discount is applied.
        • Discount for only usage or both (supply & usage).
        • Discount with pay in time.
        • Discount is holistic or nested (E.g as per my previous post nested 40% discount = 3% + 37% off usage.)
      • Direct debited from Credit Card or not.
      • Contract or no contract.
      • Prices are displayed per unit pre and post GST.

      No wonder people are confused.

      Cheers

      • I agree. I was unsuccessfully showing that using discounts to compare prices between shops is silly.

    • Not sure.

Can you make it a true or false question

A clothing store is selling a shirt for 27% off. Another sells the same shirt for 32% off. Which is cheaper?

What are the starting prices before discount and what are the credit card surcharges?

That's what I was trying to get at. Alas every two days someone posts their discounts rather than their rates.

  • Out of all the ones you saw, shortlist a few and call them up. Ask what is the best rate they can give.
Then ask them what would be the bill for 1000 units over 90 days with their prices and discounts.
Do the same for others as well. Thats what I did in NSW.

    Did you check pacific hydro.

Check that they are just into electricity and thank me later.

If you find anyone who is cheaper pls let me know.

    Cheers

  • i have a fusion reactor in my anus

  • I'll make it easy…elec go with globird energy and for gas , go with momentum.

  • I compared lots of them when I moved last May. You'd need to get their supply charge, actual rate (and be wary of GST) and how much roughly you consume. Then calculate. SImply Energy with RACV discount got my deal. I had been using Dodo and they couldn't match it.

  • Electricity: Pacific Hydro
    Gas : Momentum

    • I'm the same, If anyone knows cheaper shout out :)

    • Thanks

  • bump, I'm in same situation now, which one you guys recommend for Elec and Gas provider?
