Comprehensive Car Insurance Calculator

Hello.

Does there exist a calculator/website/tool that allow you to compare the prices for Comprehensive Car Insurance from various insurers in one go?
NSW has a greenslip calculator:
https://www.greenslips.nsw.gov.au/price-check

Was wondering if there is something similar but for Comprehensive Car Insurance?
Thanks.

Compare the Market or iSelect but neither would compare all insurers as they only compare those that provide commissions.

I would just get quotes from each insurer you are considering.

I find that Compare the Market and iSelect would constantly call you if you use their service.

That's another reason to avoid them.

any consolidation service that needs to advertise on TV should be avoided. advertising is not cheap so therefore the money has to be recouped in aggressive marketing.

    • just don't give them your real details

  • no,

    just follow what CLoSeR said.

  • They pretty much want the same info.

Some want more info, they say this helps them to know you better, assess heir risk better and tailor their price better.

    Several cons tho:
It may just help them to price you higher than they might otherwise
They may sell your info regardless of whether you accept their quote, or not
They are asking far more than they should to assess your risk, and they don't make any undertakings about what they store or for how long, so it likely all gets stored, shared and stays admissible

Some reduce their risk of paying out by reducing the insured amount (when u sign up or in later renewals)
Others by increasing the amount you have to pay out when you make a claim
    by using cheaper repairers
    by doing poor repairs
by providing poor warranty quality and emphasising the importance of it, instead of doing a quality job
    etc.
    etc.

Lots of low-end insurers around, but the big ones have been busy providing profits to shareholders over service to customers for years too.

  • No

  • Not really but those sites that do are use company’s that are all under the one parent company.
False sense of competition if the parents company gets your money one way or another

Read this regarding insurance comparison sites…

    https://www.choice.com.au/money/insurance/insurance-advice/a…

    NOT so Simples……

BTW read the full article, but for those who are lazy here is something

Compare the Market is owned by Budget Holdings Limited (BHL). BHL, in turn, owns insurance giant Auto and General….. , five out of the seven brands were Auto and General Insurance brands.

Choosi.com.au is associated with Hollard Financial Services. It's a major provider of life insurance and issues 11 of the insurance brands available on the site while parent company Greenstone distributes four of the life insurance products.

    • Great read. Thank you!
