Officeworks Not Honouring 5% Price Beat of DWI

I went today at Officeworks Croydon SA and asked them to price beat by 5% an item I am interested in.
My price comes from regular aussie online retailer and the item is not in clearance.
After a first positive look the girl made a couple of calls, and then refused to change the price, sustaining that that website sells grey imports and so here, and so there.
Nowhere on that website it’s stated they sell grey imports, and I can’t find anything in OW t&c saying about grey imports.
To me this is not only bu**sh^* but also false advertising, since the majority of their campaign is based on the price beat. Easy to beat when is $5, when you talk about $50 they find every excuse to disappoint you.

It was DWI and to me they don’t match because price is so good. If they don’t want to price match DWI must be outlined clearly in their t&c. Saying it’s grey imports with no evidence, it’s not good practice. They just waste people time.

Case is closed, Officeworks has that rule and I missed that. Thanks to folktaliesin for being truly helpful with his answer, thanks to a few other sensitive other trying to help out in the discussion. The rest of haters, I am sorry for them.

OP is one of those customers :\ complete headache reading his posts.

OP is the bane of every retail employee ever.

I don't work at Officeworks, but OP's attitude is overly entitled and yet completely lacking basic comprehension.

OP should buy online, save himself dollars and save staff the hassle of dealing with his bullshit.

  • chemist warehouse wouldn't beat price on vitamins that were half price at coles, said they only beat other pharmacies which is BS.

      https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/AboutUs/faq

At Chemist Warehouse if you find a cheaper price on the same item at another Australian Registered Pharmacy or Australian Registered Retailer we will match it and give you 10% off the difference.

This policy cannot be applied to products at the other company if they are:
      - out of stock
      - short dated
      - on clearance or discontinued
      - A part of a promotional offer e.g. buy one get one free

    • Chemist Warehouse is a terrible company anyway..

  • OW Jandakort WA refused to price match TGG because the TGG website required entering discount codes to get % off which the code was generic and published on TGG website. So OW price match policy is flawed or at least at the discretion of their staff.

First exclusion of the price beat guarantee.

      https://www.officeworks.com.au/information/policies/price-be…

What items are excluded from the PBG?

Cashback and coupon offers (i.e. supplier cashback or reduced price available via paper coupon or electronic codeword)

    • Not flawed at all. Clearly stated in their terms as xoom has pointed out, and always been the case.

      • "First exclusion of the price beat guarantee"… hence why I said the POLICY is flawed. If a generic discount code is generally available to everyone, not targeted and not one use only it shouldn't be counted as discount code. If I am an OW staff I could piss my customers off when they mention price beat online competitors I would say "oh there is an apply discount code area on their website checkout section and the code is preset "(empty)" so our price beat policy is to exclude any discount code which in this case the code is (empty)".

        • discount code

A discount code, voucher, coupon, etc, all falls under the same definition of a targeted offer no matter how generic or widely used may be.

Ebay provides their members with 20% code from time to time which they make available to thousands and thousands of their members. It's a targeted code under the conditions of the offer.

        • @whooah1979: oh yeah? When everyone in this world is targeted noone is targeted.

        • @whooah1979: why did you link to ebay discount code when it has conditions such as using eBay account, one use per account and subject to PayPal checkout when I was talking about TGG discount code published on their website landing page without these ebay code restrictions?

  • Speak to the managers hair cut for sure

  • Personally I would engage a top quality silk and a legal team to get to the bottom of this. Make officeworks apologise and honour that deal of giving you a quality product for less than a grey import with no Australian warranty.

  • This person is one of the reasons why I quit JB Hifi, these people suck the soul out of humans…

  • op: "waaa waa waa i didnt get my way, company x doesnt want to bend over backwards and give me a quality product for peanuts waa waa

im a consumer, bow down to me waaa waa waa"

op should just buy product from the company who is cheaper, than wasting office works time (and money).

  • OP has solved the issue, thread closed.
