HTC Vive for US $499 + Taxes at Houston Mircrosoft Store ~AUD650

bloody sure I just saw the Vive for 499 + state taxes here in Houston.
I know the Vive Pro is out… and I just bought the Dell deal with the 1070 NVIDIA card.

Should I pull the trigger?

They also have this official deal for 598USD + taxes - call it $750 which include a paddle and a racket

The HTC Valve Vive now costs AU$750-$900.
Since this is under-price, I think its worth it.

Especially since you can compare it to the performance of:
the Oculus FaceBook Rift, the Samsung Odyssey (best WMR), the Acer Headset (worst WMR), and the PS VR.
    Here's an article of comparison:
    https://www.wareable.com/vr/big-vr-headset-test-review-4322

It concludes the Rift was being more value, because its slightly worse than the Vive but noticeably cheaper.
I think in time, the Steam Vive will get even cheaper making it the more value/better option.
However, I still don't see VR taking off that well. It seems to be copying the 3D Trend we had with movies and TV's from a few years back.

  • So I got the vibe + the Delux strap + the tennis bundle for 598 USD I couldn't resist. (598 +49 tax -24 tax back on departure)

They didn't want to include the 99usd Delux strap and earphones but I pointed out it was on the promotion picture.

Agree it will get cheaper as all tech does but this seems a good deal with all the parts considered and ability to add other real world objects or straps as I have the univerasal receiver.
