VORNADO AIR PURIFIERS - AC300 and AC500

You’ll breathe easier knowing that the Vornado Air Purifier True HEPA collection removes 99.97% of airborne contaminants in your home.

The Vornado AC500 Whole Room Air Purifier uses true HEPA filtration, one of the most effective filters available, to remove up to 99.97% of airborne allergens down to 0.3 microns in size. The Vornado Whole Room Purifier actively circulates and filters all the air throughout a room. Without powerful circulation, the air cleaner is only cleaning the immediate area around the unit.

The AC500 uses a radial blower to intake and clean all the air in a room – up to 30m². Precision engineering allows the blower to operate quietly, despite its powerful air flow. The AC500 uses a combination of 2 True HEPA and 2 Carbon filters to trap Dust, Pollen, Pet Dander, Smoke, Bacteria, Mold Spores, Dust Mites, and more. The carbon filter both adsorbs odors and traps larger particles.

When in ‘auto mode’, advanced dust sensing technology detects the level of dust in a room, fluctuating the cleaning cycle up or down, depending on the air quality.

Features 4 speeds, push button electronic controls, filter replacement indicator, sleep mode and industry leading 5 Year Replacement Warranty.

AC300 CADR Ratings: Dust – 152 | Pollen – 170 | Smoke – 142

How can you be retailing the AC300 Purifier at $236.40, calling it a deal when on eBay they are $207.10 shipped from Sydney on eBay with PICK5.

Granted, not many numbers in the listing, but if they can sell through ebay with a 13% cost (ebay fees + paypal), how can you only get to $236.40 through your own channels and presumably lower than 4% take on card payments?

If you want to bring a bargain to Ozbargain, they need to be market rate bargains.

  • We are investigating who the seller is in Sydney as current stock holdings show that Vornado Australia is the only place that has stock.

Rather than investigate the seller .. why not just offer a better price?

      • That is the plan.

        • Thanks.

  • Is Air Circulator just a fancy name for 'Fan'?

It looks like a normal desk fan - http://shop.vornado.com.au/71534/Model-533-Polar-White/pd.ph…

    • A Vornado circulator differs from a regular fan by using Vortex Action to distribute air throughout the entire room.

Vortex Action refers to the column of air that circulators create. The airfl ow column will spin and twirl to the opposite corner hitting the wall where it will split off and recirculate to the centre of the room. Whole room circulation means that you don’t have to be directly in the air stream of the circulator to feel its effects.

      Thanks Kirsten!
Do you know how often the filters need to be replaced?

Edit: Just realised the filters are on the website too.

      • The carbon and True HEPA filters are available for purchase via http://shop.vornado.com.au
Generally, the filters are to be replaced every 12 months. The carbon filter can be washed 1-2 times before re-purchase. The True HEPA filter is a one time use only. On the unit there is a red light that will light up when the filters require replacing. Hope that helps! Thanks.

Thanks, +1 from me, good pricing. I was only going to watch this thread, now seriously considering purchasing. I like the Vornado products and no one complains with a 5 year warranty :).

Anyone comment how these are compared to the xiaomi ones?

While these look ok I went with a much cheaper solution which I think actually works better than any standalone room filter. If you have split system AC's.

I bought a big pack of Filtrete HVAC furnace filters of the type that filter what I wanted to filter (primarily smoke so I went for those with carbon). These are sold in the US for central heating systems. They're big panels. I got a pack of 6 shipped to Australia for US$7 (more now). They're huge too. I cut a piece out of it the right size to fit on top of my split system AC air inlet. The AC can circulate air around the room quieter and better than portable standalone filters. Just replace it whenever you think it needs to be.

No need to worry about finding filters for a model long since gone from the market.

I have loads of neighbours wood heater smoke in my house and this clears it up pronto.

    Here's the Filtrete filters

    This one for example

    • Anyone know where to buy these in Australia? Melbourne?
My air conditioner intake is quite large (34"x18") so I would expect the shipping from the USA to be expensive.

      • The box of 6 I got was huge, but very light. About 500x700x250. It must have cost a lot more than US$7 to send. Ten times that now. That gives about 18 filters for my AC’s. enough for years.

    • I read somewhere it's not a good idea to put filters on top of split systems as it restricts airflow too much and can cause issues with the unit freezing up or something.

      • Sure maybe if it's really thick and gets covered in dust, bust these furnace filters are quite thin and have very little impact on airflow. However due to the amount of air being cycled through a split system they do a good job filtering. Also you can barely see the filter up there.

      Vornado.com.au will be updated today.
There isn't a difference in the purchase price of the unit as all sales go through shop.vornado.com.au
The vornado.com.au product pages are yet to pull through the updated pricing from the shop front.
      Thanks.

    • I wonder if this thing works in Beijing ?

  • Hi everyone,

Just posting to see if anyone who ordered has received theirs?

We've been waiting for two and a half weeks with no luck so far.

    • Hi Iceman,

Can you please send me an email at [email protected] with your order details?
I will follow it up immediately for you as all orders are dispatched within 24 hours of receipt of purchase.
      Thank you.
      Kirsten @ Vornado Australia.

  • The AC500 is down to $216.50 delivered (in Perth) - and I received it the next day! Just like when I called up about a broken fan blade and they sent it out with no questions and at no cost (my boy broke it), I've found Vornado to offer great support.
