  • Isn't there an OzBargain rule to -ve this game???

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/Battlefront

      • Hi rule.

      • +1

        You can't neg a deal because you don't like the product. You should know that by now.

      • Ja rule

    • -1

      Haha yeah. A lot of people weren't keen on their pay to win system but the campaign looks fun so I'm finally giving them my money.

      • -3

        A lot of people weren't keen on their pay to win system

        weren't?

        • You still mad bro?

        • -1

          @modtang:

          You still mad bro?

          No, but you should be. This game was selling for around $39 not that long ago…

        • -1

          @jv:
          Hard copy PS4 deluxe edition? I don't think so.

  • +5

    I would never buy a game that offered competitive advantages in the premium editions

    • +1

      As I won't be going near multiplayer this has no effect on me whatsoever.

      • +3

        You paid $59 for a 5 hour shitty campaign?

        • +3

          I bet you've wasted $60 on far more stupid things.

        • @modtang:

          As a game, it fails on a per hour economic basis then. That's $11.80 per hour of entertainment. No deal. You shouldn't be supporting companies who pull this crap. Go put the money towards a Switch console and go play Zelda or Mario Odyssey - everything a game should be and more.

          For PC - Overwatch (yes I don't hate all lootboxes), or Fortnite (F2P and no P2W mechanics)

  • +11

    Garbage game, Garbage deal , can be frequently found for 15-20 private sale via fb and gumtree.

    Still not even worth that.

    Given how much p2w this game is, it should have been f2p.

    Don't buy it and support EA having the license yanked and the franchise given to a studio that won't screw the audience.

    • -5

      You can't down vote a deal because something is cheaper second hand. Lol that applies to every single thing ok this site.

      • +1

        You can't down vote a deal because something is cheaper second hand

        You can downvote if you have major issues with the company selling them though…

        • -3

          The retailer is not the game development studio. A neg vote is allowed for dodgy retailers.

        • +2

          @modtang:

          The retailer is not the game development studio.

          They can neg for major issues about the product or the seller… as can be seen from other posts about this game.

        • @jv:
          Just because people do it doesn't make it right. This is a good deal for this product. Whether or not someone likes the game or EA's policies has no bearing on this.

        • +1

          @modtang:

          Whether or not someone likes the game or EA's policies has no bearing on this.

          Of course it does. That's the reason for the downvotes

          The company is unethical…

        • @jv:
          Thousands of games have loot systems of some kind, including some very similar to this one. It's not unethical. People are just pissed because it's a Star Wars game.

        • +2

          @modtang:

          Thousands of games have loot systems of some kind

          We can only comment on the deal posted though…

        • @jv:
          I don't eat beef so I'm going to neg every McDonald's burger bargain from now on. That's ok, right?

        • +2

          @modtang:

          Go for it…

        • -2

          @jv:
          So in other words you DO support violating the neg rules. Good to know. Will no longer pay any attention to you.

        • +1

          @modtang:

          So in other words you DO support violating the neg rules.

          Nope, these are valid negs according to the voting rules.

        • @jv:
          Please quote the part where it says people can down vote something because they don't like the product in the bargain.

        • +1

          @modtang:

          Why? can't you read?

        • @jv:
          Let's pretend I can't. Put your money where your mouth is.

        • +1

          @modtang:

          Let's pretend I can't.

          I don't play pretend games…

    • Standard ragequit internet comment right there.

      Unless something has changed very recently, it's not pay to win (but that may change). Play to win maybe (ie the folk who rack up 100s of hours of play time have the most powerful weapons/talents etc on top of their developed skills and map knowledge, far more than the lowly noobs who can only play a few hours a week).

      Its fun, but it is so, so very spammy. And like the 2015 release it is almost criminally lacking in depth. Not an accident I guess if EA keep to a 2-3 year release cycle.

  • +4

    No Darth Vader, no bargain…

    • +2

      Use the force happykamper….

  • +5

    What a money grabbing garbage of a game. Disney needs to give the SW license to a proper developer and publisher now.

    • -3

      So you've played it?

      • +1

        Reread the comment, it has no relevance whether they've played it or not…

        • He's giving an opinion on the game. I just asked if he'd played it. I know you think you're king shit around here but that doesn't mean you're right.

        • +2

          @modtang:

          He's giving an opinion on the game.

          Nope, he's giving an opinion on the business model used by the game's developer…

          "What a money grabbing garbage of a game."

      • +6

        I own a copy. It's garbage and this is not a deal.

        It's a free to play (I hate that phrase) star wars themed casino designed to hook you into gambling activities.

        It deserves to be downvoted to the deeps of hell.

        Don't pull the "oh you can't have an opinion if you havn't played it", "its has a full campaign", "it's a top rated game" crap.

        This game is everything wrong with the industry, any level of support for it is destroying what is good about the games industry and not supporting developers, this game cost 4 studios their jobs (that we know of so far).

        Call it ethics, call it blind hatred, but the right thing to do is not buy it.

        • -1

          Although I agree with your sentiments, this is like having a political opinion and forcing it on other people. It's still irrelevant to the fact that this is the cheapest current price for this product which makes it a bargain. Hate the game. Tell us you hate it. But don't down vote a bargain because you don't like the product.

        • +5

          @modtang: Get your words and assumptions out of my mouth.

          It's not a bargain and it's been explained why, it can routinely be found much cheaper due to the backlash.

          Want to argue?

          here it is :
          https://ebgames.com.au/ps4-223589-Star-Wars-Battlefront-2-pr…

          $57.. yeah it's preowned but pretty much all the benefits of this product are now null, this entire product was purposely made to take advantage of people who couldnt wait, it's main feature touted on the box was that this version was released a few days earlier.

          The extras are either unusable at low level as you need to rank up to use them and by that point you've picked them up in a loot crate.

          No reason to buy this. A standard edition if you have to buy it will give you the same experience and given that many people picked it up in bundles and did not want it you will find many places selling brand new copies as used.

          Even at $57 retail, it still aint a bargain, my local cashies has quite a few copies sitting on the shelf for $35, another one has them for $40.

          Still not a bargain.

        • @typhoonadventure:
          A SECOND HAND PRODUCT IS NOT THE SAME AS A NEW ONE. Cheaper elsewhere doesn't mean used. If that were the case then 99% of the "bargains" on here are not valid.

        • @modtang: and neither have been most of your arguments.

          You've put up an item as a bargain.

          It's failed the pub test.

          The crowd have decreed it is not a bargain.

          You are trying everything you can to not accept that.

          Accept it and move on with your life mate, bigger and better things await.

        • -2

          @typhoonadventure:
          Thing is, it is a bargain. It ticks all the boxes. You guys are just so salty about the in game stuff that you can't accept that. Even if the game is shit it's still a bargain for a new, hard copy PS4 deluxe edition of this game.

        • @modtang: pasta packs are 19 cents off at my local this week.

          You are going to campaign it's a bargain?

        • @typhoonadventure:
          Is it cheaper than anywhere else? Then yes, its a bargain.

        • +2

          @modtang:

          Value for money is a social construct mate.

          There is no value for money here.

          If you are going to start jumping up and down telling me that saving 19 cents off a packet of pasta that fluctuates in price to a point of trivial debate being raged upon it would be considered absurd by a reasonable person I think you've answered your own question of why is this not a bargain?

          Move on and redistribute your effort elsewhere.

        • +1

          @modtang:

          Is it cheaper than anywhere else?

          Just because something is cheap or free, doesn't make it a bargain.

          Also, it's already been shown this can be found much cheaper elsewhere… Still not a bargain.

        • @typhoonadventure:
          Saving 19 cents might not be a big deal to you but when you're barely scraping by, those small amounts add up.

        • +1

          @modtang:

          So your explanation for this game being a bargain is that if you are scraping by spending $59 on a game that can be had for cheaper elsewhere is something a reasonable person should do.

        • +1

          @typhoonadventure:

          Move on and redistribute your effort elsewhere.

          Obviously modtang didn't read the voting rules…

          • "Try not to take negative votes personally."
        • +2

          @modtang:

          Saving 19 cents might not be a big deal to you

          If 19 cents affects your lifestyle so much, perhaps buying this game for $59 is a not such a good idea for you…

        • +1

          @jv:

          Also didn't check other retailers before claiming it was the cheapest retail price listed on a new copy.

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STAR-WARS-BATTLEFRONT-2-Game-Pla…

          or the fact that most of the feature points of the ET version were literally it being avaliable for sale a few days before the main release date, with all the dlc crap with it being trivial and useless, meaning that it gives little advantage over a standard copy, which can be found in various ebay sales cheaper than the listed deal, as well as using the ebay pick5 deal you can have it for :

          $47.49 delivered.

          But hey, if your struggling for a meal and every cent counts, @modtang's advice, buy it for $59 pickup or + postage.

        • @jv:
          It's a 3 month old game. If I had loads of cash why would I wait that long to buy it?

        • +1

          @modtang:

          You're up to 5 -ve votes now for this deal… The members have spoken, this is not a bargain…

        • -1

          @typhoonadventure:
          Did you have a brain tumour for breakfast. It clearly states used on that auction.

        • -1

          @jv:
          Yeah because people can't read or follow rules. One neg coz it's cheaper used and one coz it's cheaper on PC. Says a lot about the people negging, methinks.

        • @modtang:

          Yeah because people can't read or follow rules.

          If the votes weren't valid, mods would have removed them after you reported them all…

        • @modtang: Corrected :
          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Star-Wars-Battlefront-II-2-PS4-N…

          Still cheaper than your price.

          It seems some of us can adapt and fess up when we are mistaken and others cannot.

        • @jv:
          They have removed the 2 I reported.

        • @modtang: Your defending this as hard as sellingoutsoon, again mate, time to move on

          There will be bargains in future, the tribe has spoken, this was not one of them.

        • @typhoonadventure:
          Why do you care so much?

        • @modtang: Someone has to look out for you.

          I'm sure this will be a teachable experience for you.

        • @modtang:

          They have removed the 2 I reported.

          So 2/3 of the -ve votes posted are valid then…

        • @typhoonadventure:
          Also your link is still to a standard edition, not deluxe.

        • @modtang: have you played the deluxe edition?

        • @jv:
          Yes I said that already. A valid neg isn't one done because of ethics or personal bias.

        • +1

          @modtang:

          A valid neg isn't one done because of ethics

          that's where you are wrong

          it is quite valid to -ve vote a company that is unethical… It is one of the examples in the rules…

        • @typhoonadventure:
          Yes, I was gifted the preorder of the ultimate edition on PC. I played it for an hour and got refunded on principal. Bought 2 other games instead.

        • @modtang:@modtang: Given that the whole point of this edition was to sucker people into preordering and paying much more than the standard copy for the main feature advertised of this edition :

          Up to 3 days early-access to Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II

          The "bonus" dlc that comes with this is useless, so all you are getting different from the regular edition is worse cover art.

          How do I know the bonus dlc is worthless?

          I have the platinum trophy for this game and up until a month into this game I was australia's #1 ranked player at it, the dlc was worthless 3 days before release when this version took effect, it's worthless now, and i'm saying this as someone who paid money for the game and then took out its top honors, it's not a good game, it IS literally a star wars themed casino, the campaign is not fun, the gameplay is terrible and apart from battling it out to get a physical platinum trophy for this game, there was no point in playing it, and there is no real reason for anyone to play this dumpster fire of a game, let alone pay for it.

          Given that you refunded the game… you obviously had your own issues with this that begs the question why you placed this deal up, given that we've now established it is NOT the cheapest version available, and that the dlc is useless, there is no reason for this deal to remain up.

        • -1

          @jv:
          Not once on the Voting Guidelines page does it mention the word "ethics".

        • @modtang:

          That's enough thanks everyone, this post is cluttered with off topic discussion. This is not the place to discuss interpretations of guidelines, the negative vote that required moderator intervention has been actioned almost an hour ago now.

          Please use the report button and ensure further discussion is about the game.

        • @modtang: Ethics are something every community are meant to encourage by default, if that has to be explained it is no more a community than it is a collective anarchy or dictatorship.

        • -3

          @hamza23:
          Yet you let jv run rampant on every single post. Lovely.

  • dbfz when?

  • +4

    objectively this game is still overpriced at $59 for the features and gameplay it offers as an entertainment product. and is NOT a good deal

    Its bascially a F2P game with a AAA price tag slapped on it because oh look its Star Wars wowowowowowow

    • -3

      This is a fair neg. The others, however, were not.

      • +1

        sour grapes much?

        • No, but this is a joke. This site used to be about deals, not bashing products because you are an opinionated pleb. If you can literally neg anything as long as you have a reason (no matter how stupid it is) then this whole site is now pointless.

        • +1

          @modtang:

          This site used to be about deals

          This is not a deal though…

        • +1

          @jv:

          It's been proven it's not a deal mate.

          Found cheaper on ebay and thats before applying pick5 and getting another 5% off.

    • +1

      I agree, and there are much better "free to play" games that are less "pay to win" than this game. Paying anything for something that most other companies offer free (pay to win games) is not a bargain.

  • +1
    • +1

      Mate, (1) that's PC and (2) it's not a physical copy.

      • Oh my bad, forgot how overpriced consoles are…

        • +2

          I built my own PC and I primarily game on it but my cousin has a ps4 and wanted me to grab this so he could play it too. PC games definitely cheaper tho.

        • +1

          @modtang: it is if you like single use codes that retain no value and are non transferable.

          That's the beauty of physical games free of drm like steam, origin or uplay, they retain a value making them cheaper in the long run as you can always get some form of value out of them.

          You can also pick them up if you have bargaining skills much cheaper than you would in a retail environment.

  • My thoughts on this entire game are pretty much the same as those for Metal Gear Survive, they’re too expensive until they’re free.
    If they were free and then pay to win, fair enough. But game developers aren’t dictating what’s included anymore accountants and their added profit packs are clearly running the show.

    If we don’t vote with our wallet now then I fear what will become of gaming in a few years time.

  • +1

    Huh. Did the user delete their account??

    • +2

      The negs must've gotten to 'em

      • All four of them…

        They couldn't bare the shame…………

  • What in the Hell !

    this was like Sub $30AUD around XMAS
