Shirt for Larger Necks

Hi guys,

Just looking for some opinions from our larger necked member.

I'm not a plus sized man. I'm 87kg and 185cm. But unfortunately, I have a 46 inch centimetre neck.

When I buy shirts they are either:
Well fitted, but I can't do the button on the collar.
Fit my neck, but are literally XXL and upwards, and look terrible.

Does anybody else this problem? I have a friend's wedding coming up and am wondering, is tailored my only option?

Thank in advance

Yes tailoring is your only Option.

    Experimental neck reduction surgery

  • I have the same problem, I normally just leave the top button undone and close it up as best as possible with a tie.

  • Find some “douche neck” shirts. They come in smaller sizes but usually have a much larger neck hole opening. I dont like wearing these types of shirts, because my neck to body ratio is average and they just feel lose and horrible and the collar/neck cuff is usually very thin as well.

Or #getswole to fill out those XXL shirts.

Other thing you can do is buy the smaller shirt and get a top button extender and cover it up with a tie on business/formal shirts.

    Examples of douche neck shirts;

    Round douche neck
    V douche neck.

    • lmao both douche photos have almost the same expression and pose

You want to google “douche neck shirt” and hit the “images only” tab… kinda how they derived their name.

  • Have you tried an extra fitted/super fitted shirt from Charles Tyrwhitt or TM Lewin?

I’m not calling you a liar, but if you’ve legit got a 46inch neck you belong in the circus or something
Plenty of custom build shirt places should however cater to a 46 CM neck

Was about to say 46 inches is the size of large tv's Lmao lol

Yes, I meant centimetres, lol. D'oh!

  • Gaining heaps of weight around the middle.

I’d try Brooks brothers or ™ Lewin

There have been cheap deals to Asia lately. Maybe heading over there and buying some custom shirts would be the best thing to do.

Sounds like gaining weight to match your neck is the only option.

Van Heusen have a good range of 46+ from Myer

  • I have a similar issue, OP, but haven't bothered to sort it out. This is what I was looking at: Collar Extenders. Not sure if this will help, but certainly would work if you're wearing a tie. Basically you loop the button on the collar with the extender (that has an additional button on it), thus widening the collar.

  • Similar, I was able to fit a Uniqlo shirt just barely!

    Try them out

  • Charles Thywitt shirts go up to 51cm.
