Super cheap - get 8 blue crates from out the back on a milk bar, flip them and use it as a base
Cheap - Could probably build one pretty easily.

should also look at websites like "freecycle", ebay, moving house/going overseas sales etc
As for the mattress.
I bought my mattress from a 'mattress warehouse' we found in the yellow pages. No showroom, just a warehouse with cling filmed mattresses stacked. Just go there with size, pricing, and how hard you want it, and whether you want a base included. They had branded ones too.
People going overseas, family members leaving home/upgrading etc.
Unless you're really desperate, keen an eye out :) im sure one will show up
