Vitamix Blenders bought from US

If I purchased a Vitamix and bring it here through a friend. Will the voltage conversion (if any) be an issue if I plug them to our electrical sockets?

Comments

  • You can’t plug them into our electrical socket, the plug is different

what voltage does the USA use?
    what voltage does australia use?
what is the voltage rating of the US bought blender?

come back with those answers and then ask questions if you still have them.

  • bear in mind, vita mix will only honour warranty claims for machines bought in that country only

  • Will the voltage conversion

Motors are normally wired for the voltage 110/120v they use, so won't work here sadly, unless the back of the unit says something like

    input 120/240v…..

  • So how much is the 'straya tax on one of those things?

    • Less than it used to be.

      • Username fail. :)

        • Sorry, best way to determine is to look at something like Amazon and do the conversion fee dance. However, I concur that the US ones are probably 110V so you either pay the "tax" or look at the alternatives like "Froothy". I got Myers to price match an online Australian price when I bought mine and they are good blender.

        • @try2bhelpful: :)

No worries I thought the OP had already done the figures so I was curious as to the price difference. Last time I looked they wee about $1000 here.

        • @EightImmortals: It depends on te model; they have everything from the personal one to the Ascent series. I found an apple green version of the Personal on catch of the day for $395.

          Australian RRP.

I have a vitamix blender (VM0103 TNC model) that I purchased from the USA in 2007 on ebay.
You will need a step down transformer to run a vitamix machine purchased in the USA at this end.
I use a 2000W step down transformer on mine and have had no problems - you could probably purchase a lower wattage transformer but I also use the transformer for my Dyson Vacuum Cleaner.
Obviously you have to factor the cost of the step down transformer when doing a cost comparison.
Also if you purchase the vitamix new then you won't get any warranty at this end.
