Which Credit Card to Use All The Time?

Hello lovely tight arses,

I am confused which credit card to use all the time when i make purchases online or in store.

I have ANZ CC which gives me qantas points while making purchases and on the other hand i have coles credit card which gives me frequent flyer points while making purchases + I also have insurance with coles CC so incase the price drops down of the product, i can claim back the diffrence amount.

I am using ANZ cc for small purchases and coles cc in big purchases and coles store at the moment.

Please suggest.

Thank you

Work out which one gives you better value per point. Most points have a money value. I use my Amex every chance I get as it gives me 3 points to the dollar instead of 1 point to the dollar of my Mastercard

    • What AmEx card gives you 3 points for every $ you spend? I know some give 3 points for certain types of shops but didn't know there were any that give 3 points for everything.

      • I just have the CBA Diamond card. Its CBA points as opposed to straight qantas etc. All I know is Amex is always the better option

        • Ah, I assume the conversion rate isn't 1:1 then.

Not always. CBA awards cards have gone down the shitter in recent times. Max points earned per dollar only applies when using Amex at servos, department stores and supermarkets otherwise you earn even less than with MasterCard. Also, points needed to redeem stuff went up recently too and if you’re chasing QFF points, the CBA diamond awards product is one of the worst.

        • @niggard: I use the CBA Diamond card to chase points for Tiger flights booked through Flightcentre. Since lowering the value of the points, flying TigerAir is about the best deal I can get.

Maybe I should suggest to them, that they (CBA) team up with TigerAir, the same way American Express has teamed up with Qantas :)

        • @kerryww: my points earn on a platinum awards card has been severely hampered by the limited higher points earn merchants. I’m thinking of downgrading to a low fee gold when my current year is up and waiting to see what changes they might make in light of Westpac not issuing Amex cards directly.

    Whichever one you pay off

exactly what I was going to say "the one you always TOTALLY pay and the end of the month" - no pay=no gain :/

Do you think that being an Ozbargainer I will pay interest on using cc??

        No Way!!!

  • it's also dependent on who u end up flying with more…
no point getting qantas points if u never fly with them

or if you never fly at all… rather get points to do other things with
