I'm after affordable bluetooth earphones that aren't in-ear. I want to be able to hear my surroundings. I'm currently using Jaybird X2 but the memory foam and in-ear buds do their job exceptionally well so I'd ideally want something that doesn't seal as well. I quite like the Apple airpods as they don't create a tight seal but don't want to pay the Apple tax.

S6 Bluetooth Sports Headphones has been around USD $2-$3 when they get posted on OzBargain. Apple style earbuds which are not in-ears. You can buy silicon hooks for the Apple earbuds to get a more secured fit. However the sound is tinny, has short battery life, and not sweat proof (if you intend to use it for exercise).
You can also have a look at bone conduction headphones — look up those on eBay / GearBest and there are some Chinese ones under $50. Those don't go into your ear canal at all but rest on your temple, so you ears can hear the unobstructed ambient sound.

i dont like something to get pushed deep inside my ear canal. make me feel itchy.
this earbuds are just sit on the ear, not push deep into. and the band, is unbreakable, anti tangle. you can literally throw this around inside your bag, no need to worry.
hopefully there is something like this by xiaomi soon.
