HP Envy Sound and Touchpad Issue within ELF Period

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a new HP Envy Ultrabook from JBHIFI via there 15% offers in store.

I have been using the unit for about a week and have come across two issues.

  1. There is a popping noise which emits from the top speakers at random intervals and also happens when initiating videoplayback (youtube). Have also tested using headphones and the same pop appears also.

also just occured today (05/03)

  1. The touchpad when scrolling or sliding around when in use has this quite audible rattling noise(like its loose) and also occurs when lightly clicking the touchpad (not a full press). First few days was perfect. I have tried to restart the device, with the issue still present

I am in discusssions with HP Support via Facebook and for 1, he does not see this as a defect, and has not yet responded to number 2.

My question is do you believe this is a fault eligible as a major fault (point 2) for return in store?

Thank you.

UPDATE:
HP Got in contact with me and have processed a DOA case for a letter to be sent via email stating that the unit is DOA. Except they don't know how long this will take.

  • Why don’t you go back to JB?

    • I am going to do that tomorrow.

Do you reckon they'll provide a refund? This model is out of stock state wide.

      Thanks

      • Maybe they will give you a really old model they have in stock

        • If that was the case, I'd prefer a refund as this has the latest Gen CPU :)

  • Just get a replacement. Or you can try and reinstall the audio driver to see if the issue stops.

    • Hey ,

Yeah that's the first thing I tried, still persisting though.

Its one of those things that is very hard for support to pick up as when it happens they're not around or its so quite that they cant hear it or cant be picked up by recording.
