Any Current Deals on Starter DSLRs?

As per title, I'm interested in getting my first DLSR. Are there any deals around ATM for a good beginner DSLR?

Thanks in advance.

      Computer, is that you?

Why not a mirrorless? They are lighter and more compact. Now that displays have high resolution the need for the mirror is reduced.

I'm over 10 years out of date with current tech and just starting to research. I'll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Probably be helpful to throw some more information in your request about what you intend to use it for.

Eg. 75% Photo and 25% Video.
or maybe…. Taking huge wide angle landscapes photos at night time, and some slow motion video from time to time.

    • I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet as I'm just starting out. Probably 80% photo and 20% video. So I'm after a good beginners dlsr to get me started.

  • There is a good thread here on Nikon DSLR's

  • You really need to decide on how basic/beginner you want to start.

But if you really want to start from the very bottom

The base model from Canon(1300D) is at a great price at the moment with Myer's 15% off tech ebay sale

    Works out to be $407.15

  • A lot of the basic entry level (eg the 1300d suggestion above) do not have many features you may want. For example:

    • touch screen
    • flip out screen
    • built in gps
    • battery life

If you don't actually want the above, then a 1300d could be good, but I would go to the next range and pick the 700d or 750d as they have some of the above features and are just better quality (i.e faster, more focus points, better resolution, more settings):

  • I would go a mirrorless system like a Fuji or sony
