I have also gone through my fair share of LG and Samsung fridges, None of which lasted more than 1 year and the 10 year linear compressor warranty is a marketing joke. Worst part of it was $100's of dollars of food getting thrown out

I bought a mitsubishi fridge about 2 years ago which is made in Japan - similar to this model https://www.harveynorman.com.au/mitsubishi-electric-710-litr… but it does not have a water dispenser. So far so good. 5 year parts and labour warranty.

Thanks. I love this fridge too. But my partner doesn’t just because no water or ice dispenser. 🙄

      • Maybe explain the concept of jugs of water in the fridge and ice cube trays to her. We had a fridge with an ice cube dispenser and it was such a waste of space that could be used for storing food, not to mention having to plumb it in. Our first fridge was a Leibherr and it lasted rougly 10 years, our next Bosch one was infant mortality and they replaced it with a better model because the model was dud, that was is now with a friend and is probably 10 years old and going strong, and the latest is a Miele that has lasted roughly 5 years and counting.

        • I've noticed a lot of new fridges just have water storage, so don't need to be plumbed in :) very handy because you still have an external dispenser but without the hardware etc of a water line to your fridge.

Have it on ours, is handy :)

Yeah Samsung can certainly be hit or miss

Hmm $4k budget you'll probably care about brand name otherwise I would've suggested Hisense, seem to be good bang for buck (ours is like 6 months old so can't comment on long-term reliability)

  • Electrolux goes alright

  • Thank you

  • I used to sell fridges for a local retailer.

Everyone will tell you to buy brand XX or to stay away from brand YY. In my experience, you can have good fortune with the best brands or the worst brands.

Someone mentioned Miele. They don't actually manufacture their own fridges, they're indeed manufactured by Liebherr (which is a premium brand fridge manufacturer).

At less than your price point, you can buy the best F&P in the market, which are quite reliable (YMMV). LG are known for using genuine stainless steel (hence magnets dont stick). Samsung tend to use "layering" which is basically a film/sheet applied to the fridge exterior to appear to be like stainless steel.

  • At that size I would recommend a beko (made in Europe).
