    A little bit dated and the writes are a little slow around 50mbps but still a very good usb for the price.

      Where did you get 50Mb/s from?

      It is 200MB/s read 150MB/s write if you use USB 3.1.

      • +1

        Most reviews of the Extreme Go only show writes around 50 mbps how ever I did see some results in the high 80's. If you are really looking for speed though I would go for the HyperX Savage which gets around 320mbps reads and 250 mbps writes(it costs about ~$70 AUD).

          That's an SSD. Might as well go for Samsung T5.

          Edit: Nevermind, there's a USB too.

          Edit 2: The speeds you mention are for the 128GB+ models. The SanDisk 128GB is rated to be 420MB/s and 380MB/s.

        • @firejack: Do you? 3.1 = 3.0?

        • +1

          @gorillainwild:

          USB 3.1 is capable of 10Gbps while 3.0 is 5Gbps. While you might see a slight change in speeds neither flash drive is going to be able to be able to produce the speeds required to the point of usb 3.0 or usb 3.1 creating a bottle neck.

          USB 3.1 is also known as usb 3 (gen 2) while usb 3.0 is known as usb 3 (gen 2).

          As for the difference in speeds here is a comparison for your pleasure

        • @firejack: USB 2.0 is capable of 60MB/s but you won't reach that even if you use a modern device that is backwards compatible. The TweakTown benchmark seems to go over what Kingston rate themselves. User benchmarks cannot be compared since each system is different.

        • +1

          User bench marks are actually the best real world example that we can use. Seeing as they use many different systems we can see what our expected values should be in a real world scenario rather than reading false advertising off the packaging.

          @firejack:

          Don’t want to start a fire here, but when accusing others of ignorance at least don’t mix up your bits and bytes.

          Mb != MB.

        • @firejack: If a user's system is not capable of reaching maximum speeds a USB is rated at, can you rely on those results?

        • @gorillainwild:
          If you buy a gtx 1080 but only have 1 GB ram and a stone age 1 GHz processor can you really rely on getting maximum fps? Are all the stats for a gtx 1080 a lie if you cant get it to give you its peak recorded fps? Is the world really flat because all the objects we view the world on are 2D ????

        • @firejack: Exactly, if you can't reach the speeds, doesn't mean its the USB's fault.

      http://usb.userbenchmark.com/SanDisk-Extreme-USB-30-64GB/Rat…

      User benchmarks reveal a lot faster than 50mbps with average write speeds at 94.3MB/s and read speeds at 180MB/s, though it does say the device has terrible inconsistencies, with some reporting 12.2 MB/s.

      Also USB 3.0 (5Gbps) became USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3.1 (10Gbps) became USB 3.2 Gen 2, which too me seems silly.

        Your link is for Extreme (CZ80). It is not the same as this flash drive, Extreme Go (CZ800).

  • Sandisk Extremes are absolute monsters, the only USBs I buy.

  • $9 postage for something that fits in a standard mail envelope??

  • +1

    Shame there isn't a Bing Lee in Perth because I'm not paying $9 postage lol

    • $29 is still a brilliant deal

  • got refunded on two i ordered w/ delivery. the 2 i ordered with c&c i was able to pickup fine though

  • I have the 128GB version of this, super fast but mechanically unreliable to the point where I simply don't use it any more. Half the time I plug it into a port it doesn't register.

    I've previously studied failed failed Sandisk USB sticks and found evidence of evil 'planned obsolescence' where they actually thinned down the section of sheetmetal on the USB connector housing where it joins the pcb. This is where they tend to fail, and over time they have made it weaker.

  • Anyone who bought via ebay got their "your order is ready to pick up" email yet?

    • nope
