Coles MasterCard Rewards Points (Flybuys) Missed during 26-28 February

Happy long weekend fellow OzB’ers,

I have used my Coles MasterCard Rewards to pay large bills during the period 26-28 Feb, expecting 2FB per $1 within a week, so I thought I could use them for my shopping this weekend.

Just checked my FlyBuys account today and noticed that Coles MasterCard had credited FB points for my spends on 1 Mar onwards skipping my spends during those 3 days for about $3,000.

Thinking this may have been a glitch with the switch to Citibank’s systems during that period so may have to raise it with them next week.

Those of you who use the Coles MasterCard Rewards Card, have you noticed that anything abnormal with your recent FB points reward?

I have the same issue with flybuys points missing between those dates.

I would be calling Coles MasterCard on Tuesday in the first instance if my points still don’t appear by then.

  • My last statement has 0 flybuys point.

They capped points to 3000 per month.

    Just checked after calling

Capped!!!! This card gets worse every time I look at it now.

The govt spend and annual fee going to to $99 was enough, but this cap is just too much

      • I’m with you!

      • Although it says Australia Post is excluded, how about the paypal payment to AP?

        • was not successful. citibank says paypal to AP is government related so not eligible. :(

    • Wow, that would be really bad if they stuck this new rule without telling me! Definitely not worth paying $99 for this card anymore if that’s how it is these days.

    • This is horrible news! Can you point to the source? I can't find a cap in the rewards terms and conditions.

      • After calling the call centre the cap depends on your card. E.g. Platinum Rewards its 2points per $1 spend capped at 3000 per calender month. THEN 1point per $1 thereafter (as much).

Apparently there is 3 points per $1 when spending at Coles. However, I still am not able to find documentation.

        • Did they say this was one of the changes they introduced effective 5 March? If this cap existed in February, well I could argue I wasn’t aware and so if I spent over $1,500 on my card in February, so technically they can’t deny giving me more than 3,000 points?

@Mcz: good news guys! after calling the call centre again, a management decision has been made to remove points capping.

        • @stevegates: Great news. Makes the card remain useful.

  • I'm waiting for bonus points for filling up at Coles Express and they haven't turned up yet. Then they sent me the same offer again. I assume they'll turn up. I'm on the lowest level of the card, no annual fee.

I just received the bonus points credited 3 days ago for my early February eligible spend at Coles Express. I found Coles Express bonus points tend to turn up later than others.

  • In my most recent statement, they said that my address was in Saudi Arabia, instead of South Australia.

I too, couldn't find anything in the T&C about a limitation on earned points, nor any advise about a change in the way points are accrued.

If the cap has been introduced, there's no point in me holding onto this card anymore when the next annual fee comes about.

It really was the best value!

  • im overseas atm and just checked im missing quiet alot of points as well. Some are included and some arent.

In regards to if the points are capped. Ill probably cancel this card at the end of this trip. So many changes right now and none are positive at the moment…

  • My points for those particular days still haven’t appeared so I called Coles MasterCard today. The person I spoke with didn’t mention anything about capping and without any details available at her end to be able to explain my case, she suggested that I continue to wait for another week or so as it could be due to the delay of data migration from the old system.

I used to work in a call centre several years ago. Telling someone to wait it out is us wanting them to hang up.

  • I'm about 7000 points short for the period, too. It seems to be for transactions around 24-28 February but it's unclear as sometimes they clump up transactions that happen on different days (and miss others that happen in between). Citi seem to have no access to what points have been transferred in the days up to the switch over.

The customer service are incompetent at everything but giving out misinformation. They have also stated that there was previously a $3000 tier on the card where the points earn reduces to 1pp$. This is completely untrue.

After 2 phone calls and an email, the missing points have started to arrive today. Not all of it though, still missing points for a particular amount.
