Paris & Nice in July

I'll be spending about 6 days in Paris in early July! I was wondering if anyone could give some advice on the following:

1) Disneyland Paris? Worth it or not? My friend absolutely wants to go although I've already been to the one in LA.

2) Anyone recommend a day trip in Loire Valley? And for Chateau Versailles - is that normally a day/half-day trip?

3) Would love to go to the south of France, although given it is July and it's smack-bang in peak period, would it be worth it to go to Nice for 2 days?

Also any tips in terms of finding a good neighbourhood to stay in Paris - we are probably going to do air b&b.

We are flattered you thought of OzBargain to ask these questions, but I hope you are also posting to sites like Tripadvisor where there are far more travellers who can answer them.

I spent a week in Paris and visited both Disneyland Paris and Versailles. I preferred Disneyland over Versailles which I thought was a bore, however, my wife thought Versailles was absolutely amazing. Do you like wandering around beautiful, old castles and looking at old furniture? I don't.

I like the idea of nicking off to Nice for two days as an alternative to two days at Disneyland / Versailles.

Nice has great night life especially in the middle of summer. You can then spend your days recovering on the pebbly, rocky "beach" and people watch the locals. The European beach scene is completely different to Australia's and a lot of fun.

Back in Paris, if you haven't been before, I would make sure you tick off the big items first like, Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame, Champs Elysees, Arc De Triomphe, Catacombs, Moulin Rouge and just wandering around the different arrondissements and soaking up the cool Frenchy vibes.

We stayed in the first arrondissement, opposite the beautiful Tulleries park and a short walk to the Louvre.

Near the catacombs, there is an international campus called Cite Universitaire

Near the Pantheon: Jardin du Luxembourg, Jardin des plantes, Quartier Latin (for restaurants and pubs), Sorbonne University
If you like crepe, go to le marais or Montparnasse!

Don't forget to go to La vallee village if you are near Disneyland, it's like DFO, Harbour Town.

From the top of Arc de triomphe, you will also have the opportunity to see La Defense, the business center (outside Paris).

      Famous patisserie: Pierre Herme, Lenotre.

    euro disney - yes.

Nice = not nice. dull as shit.

airbnb anywhere in central paris. I stayed in a top floor apartment near Gare De Nord station . it was great.

  • I loved Nice - went late July last year
Did Nice, Cannes, Monaco. You can fit all of those in 2 days
Stayed in a hotel near the main Nice railway station it wasn't a bad price at all.

I actually liked the more relaxed vibe of South of France compared to snobby and busy Paris. I'd say give it a go.

Did a day trip to Versailles as well, def worth it. Book online to avoid the queue and I think its closed on Mondays?
