Thanks to urbancartel's posting of a Peters of Kensington eBay 20% deal

There are cheaper luggage cases that are of similar weight/size, but this is the cheapest I've seen specifically for a Lite-Locked. This is more for those who want a non-zip lock case.

The Black one of 75cm is actually the new FL version as mentioned below, available for $479.20 after 20% discount code.
Weight is 3.8kg instead of 3.6kg.

The non-FL older versions:

For the 75cm:
Australian RRP is $999 (although street price is often more in the $550-$650 range)
From Samsonite's official website:

The three-point locking system, launched as a Samsonite patented innovation in 1986, has continuously evolved and been improved over the last 30 years, and offers greater security and practical travel use. Curv material, exclusive to Samsonite, has revolutionised the luggage industry enabling the lightest and strongest Samsonite ever. Made in Europe

Amazes me how a suitcase can cost more than a return international flight itself.

    • Please compare apple to apple

Yep, not cheap. But you buy this suitcase so carriers like the one from your link are unable to break it no matter how hard they try.

BTW, that Scoot offer surely doesn't include luggage that large.

Is broken luggage really an issue?

  • +2

Also worth noting that this model has been superseded by the newer "FL" revision hence the drop in price

    • Thanks for the heads up. Is there any big difference in the new version? To me just looks like different (better?) wheels.

      • +2

FL has twin wheels (rather than single); FL is heavier (3.8kg vs 3.6kg of non-FL); FL has white coloured handle and trim corners; FL image on Samsonite website suggests it also comes with a coat hanger and a drawstring bag.

        • Thanks mate, yeah not really a huge difference then.

  • Off-white now out of stock.

    • Thanks. I'll edit the post.

(And I just realised the Black 75cm is actually the new FL)

  • At the end of the day they were glorified PP bags. I think from reviews polycarbonate would be better?

    • My impression of the materials was that PC/ABS would be harder and more rigid, but not necessarily more breakage resistant. PP is more malleable, and the way the PP sheets were melded and laminated together gave them better resistance properties to breakage. While they may change their shape easier (due to being 'softer'), but they can also return to their shape easier (demo-ed by videos on youtube about how breakage resistant they are).
