Get Wines Direct (157-161 Burnley St, Richmond VICTORIA) are at it again with their cheap cartons of beer, except this time there is one deal per day for the next 3 days :

WED 22 DEC - CROWN LAGER carton for $29.99
THU 23 DEC - CORONA carton for $29.99
FRI 24 DEC - STELLA ARTOIS for $29.99

There are 3 coupons (one for each deal) on Page 20 of the SWITCHED ON liftout in today's (Wed 22 Dec) Herald Sun.

The same conditions apply as per the past few weeks :
* Walk-in customers only - specials not available online
* You must present the coupon to get the deal
* Cash only
* One coupon per customer per day
* Limit 1 carton per customer
* Available while stocks last

Based on the past couple of weeks, price-matching seems to be an option at some other outlets, including some Dan Murphy's stores and some First Choice Liquor stores.

Great deal for Christmas! This is my first post, pretty impressed with the deal.

  • Nice!! Now… To decide which one - OR!! - grab multiple papers. :P

    • i think you misunderstood
      3 coupons
      3 deals
      3 days
you can claim each one each day
(you can still buy multiple papers and claim each deal multiple times i guess - but that would be breaking the rules…)

      • Yeh, just grabbed one. One coupon for each day - very nice! :D

If you are a Rep of this company, tell them that this kind of email harvesting is simply NOT ON

"To continue viewing our members online specials please provide an email address below:-"

All you will end up with is a database full of fake email addresses. Like the one that I just used so I could see the webpage :-)

    • While they are harvesting email addresses, I believe it's for legitimate purposes rather than suspicious. They are a prominently mail order business, based around their weekly mailing list.

Well that's what the guy told me when I went in anyway…

But yeah, they shouldn't require you to sign up if you don't want to, just so you can view the page.

  • For the record, I'm not a company rep, I only posted that link because I don't have a link to the actual coupons.
I agree with your thoughts, it is quite frustrating not being able to view the webpage without entering an email address. Clever or just outright annoying.

    • Just type anything in there - it doesn't check validity. That is why it is both annoying AND dumb. LOL

  • Anyone know of any cheap Crownie deals in Sydney?

    • +3

Not really, have you tried using Boozle (www.boozle.com.au)?
It gives you the ability to search for discounted liquor in your area or state.
I've done a quick search for you and apparently at Thirsty Camel stores they have 2 x Crownie slabs @ $78, special finishes on Boxing Day.
Maybe check that out, its not quite the same value as the $29.99 slabs but still not bad for Crownies nonetheless.

Boozle is not accurate……ring and check before making any special trips…..

      • Thanks for the suggestion camcollins….I hadn't heard of that site.

Damn you Melbourne! (But great deal. Bastards) :)

  • Melb again!?!! Maybe I should move there some day (from bris)

  • Thanks heaps for the heads up.

  • friggin melbourne, get some sydney corona deals! dan murphy has been very poor prices as of late.

If you're after Coronas, also keep on the lookout for Sol beer. 9 out of 10 Mexicans can't taste the difference. Everyone had it for $30 last week - Woolies, BWS and Dan Murphys. It's back to $40/$44 now, but you never know your luck. Happy Festivus.

      • lucky I got mine last week too, go Brisvegas!

      • +1

I tried a Sol beer on the weekend and it tasted shocking - best avoided.

      • Unfortunately I'm not mexican. :(

  • these deals have been the only reason I have bought the wednesday herald sun the last few weeks:)

Ricki-Lee is on the cover of Switched On today as well, even more reason to get your hands on one.
The Switched On voucher is book-ended by Ricki-Lee looking amazing on the front, and some amazing beer deals on the back.
      Its your ultimate Wednesday liftout!

      • you wouldn't need to drink the slab of crownies for her to look alright

        • +2

you must be permanently drunk then ???

  • It actually works out at $30.36 per slab when you factor in the cost of the paper ( $1.10 ٪ 3 = 0.37¢ )

    • +3

Not sure that I can justify the value anymore :P

    • no if you price match at dan murphy's it would work out to be $29 + 0.37 = $29.37. I think that's a good deal:)

  • +1

these prices should be the everyday prices for beer. I mean the suppliers are importing these cartons for 10 - 15 bucks with the strong AUS$

    • +1

all alcohol is a rip in aus, america you get a slab for $15.

  • @ jv you just about need to be where I live. The odd one or two you might only need to drink half the slab hehe

  • Can you price match with Dan Murphy?? I want to get those in Sydney…

    • I dont know about Sydney but in victoria you can

      • At any Dan Murphys in Vic? No issues?

        • +1

I went to Dan Murphys @ QV and the cashier told me that DM will beat it (with original "vouchers"). Didn't bother checking the stock for Crownies 'coz I'll be waiting at the door for my price-beaten Corona!

  • OMG, the website looks like it was done by a guy who normally does late-night ads for sex-chat lines.
[husky voice]We're waiting for your order.[/]

Either that or a dentist. All those teeth!!

    • +1

All the late night sex chat ads that I've heard have females talking trying to get people to ring. What have you been watching for the ads to have guys trying to get you to ring???? :p

Most of you are probably aware of the policy via previous GetWInes deals, but 1st Choice policy (and maybe even Dan's) say that stores greater than 10kms from the offering store (AKA GetWinesDirect in Richmond) do not have to price match. I told a mate in Werribee and he was knocked back with today's Crown Lager coupon.
FYI - 1st Choice at Chadstone accepted the deal tonite. $29.95. For what it's worth, the last deal was $29.99 for Corona but 1st Choice Glen Iris matched it at $30 even. Hmmm… how to spend today's 5c saving? ;)

    • Went to get my Corona today and Dan Murphy @ QV beat it by 9 cents… So $29.90. Partly my fault for not insisting, but they took my entire page whereas I was going to buy another carton of Stella tomorrow. :-(

      I'll drink my sorrows away.

      • Doh.. When I got the Crown yesterday, the guy on the counter actually asked if I wanted to keep the other vouchers and then proceeded to cut the Crown one out.

I'm guessing he'd already seen the voucher as he was rather quick with the whole process.

  • $30 for Corona pretty damn good! Normally $45 at Dan Murphy's. Wish this was in Sydney a few days ago =(

  • On what page is today's voucher?

    • all on yesterday's paper - page 20 of the lift out. 3 of the Different vouchers entitles you to buy different beers on three different days. (Crownies yesterday, Corona today and Stella tomorrow) Haven't looked at the Herald today so I don't know if they reposted the same vouchers.

See if you can find yesterday's papers and you can still get the Corona tonight!

  • A good buy indeed. Had to fork out $45 for Crownies as prices in QLD for beer are woeful.

    • you pay less for petrol and smokes though, so you can afford to pay more for beer…

  • Camberwell Dan Murphy's was sold out of Stella today.

    Richmond had heaps though!
