  • Wow, I just bought this a few days ago.

      Is it any good? Comfy?

Not bad on the comfort factor but a pain to roll around

        • Yep rolling around can be pretty annoying. I use this on laminate flooring and not all the wheels rolls smoothly, so sometimes you can hear them scraping across the floor.

        • @chipmunkdude: Believe it or not that's actually a feature. Bought a $300 chair from IKEA recently and it just doesn't roll. What the (profanity)'s the point lol.

      • +1

Yes, I found it very comfortable. I tried out a lot of different office chairs while I was there and this was the one I liked the most. Installation was relatively easy.

But again, return new one with old receipt.

      • Is it legal to return the new one under the old one's receipt?

        • +1

          not illegal / maybe unethical?
but most stores now have 30 day price guarantee now - maybe just ask them if u can reinvoice?

        • As long as the article numbers are the same you'll be fine, I've done that before.

I'll suggest you buy the new one first before returning the old one. Lest it be ozbargained.

    • Me too! ToT

This is still $59 in SA and WA. Change ikea.com/au to ikea.com/aa to switch between franchises.

    • +1

Wasn't aware of that, thanks zzymurgy. Sad that Perth and Adelaide miss out.

Hmm, whoever down voted me I have reached my 24 hour limit on up votes, I simply wanted to show I agree with the op on Perth and Adelaide missing out.

        • +1

          so much for integration …..

        • @petry: Some votes just became available yay =).
Awfully kind of wongjy12 to up vote me, Didn't expect that lol.

        • @petry:

I'd guess they'll wait until the 2019 catalogue release before the integration kicks in. So another 6 months.

    • +6

As usual WA got snubbed again, we always have to Wait Awhile

  • +1

    just in time

  • +2

just make sure you buy the colon protector
    Also, tested for 110kg

Faaaaq, not in SA, I was going to buy it >:(

  • Awesome. I was willing to buy it 2nd hand one in $20.

  • anyone have any ideas on when the SA and WA franchises are fully merging?

  • Damn you, Ikea. Poor Adelaide. :(

    • It's just a town

      • Ouch! Not cool, dude.

  • Are the arms removable?

    • I don't think they are because the top part of the chair is anchored by the arm rests.

I had this chair before and it was a pain! It's comfortable but the handles are too low and narrow, sitting with my legs up was always so painful

  • nooooooooooooo, why why WA excluded T_T

  • +1

had a three at$49 for whole family for a while.

Average quality but a comfort seat .

  • How does this compare to a racer gaming chair?

  • +4

I purchased one of these 3 years ago and use it basically every day and it's still going strong. Every other chair i buy including $100 - $200 ones wears out or something breaks. This is definitely worth the buy.

  • How many years will the superior padding last from daily usage? This looks like a cheap quality chair that will last and replace many office chairs.

  • +3

I had 2 of these… do not expect the cover to last. Mine were peeling withing 5-6mths max… nothing else broke though.

    • Same here.
I just tore them all out and got rid of any remaining sticky glue and it's been working just as good since.

      • Yep, it looks like s@%$ though

        • Not like I'm gonna have any ladies coming in my room :(
So it doesn't matter much :(

        • @Basimx:

Dude, I have patio furniture as a computer desk and 'mouse extension'… ladies don't mind! :)

        • @educalifa: mate with my face I need all the help I can get you feel me

        • -1

@Basimx: I feel ya… hence why I hang around the dark corner of dive bars and chase the the one that seems to be slowing the herd down. I call it 'The National Geographic Approach'

  • +3

I have this and the thin covers at the bottom and top can easily peel off if you aren't careful. I eventually got irritated by little bits falling out and just tore it all out. Still using it to this day. Pretty comfy and well worth the price IMO. I would buy a new one but I'd rather wait to see how long I can milk this one and besides I'm in WA so I can't use this deal anyway :(.

Would recommend just be wary of the slim covers falling off. It probably won't happen to you because I sat in stupid alien like positions which is probably what caused it to happen but be wary nevertheless.

    • How long did it take before it degraded?

      • Several months, not quite sure of the exact time.
Like I said though it could just be because I sit stupidly but other people seem to be saying the same thing too which is why I say to be cautious. Still a great deal for 30 bucks.

    • +1

The same condition here. I bought it in mid 2014 and the bottom covering area started to peel off after 6 months or so.

    • Does it have a recline (not upright) lock?

      • Do you mean backwards or forwards? because no unfortunately it does not. Only up and down lock. I don't quite understand what you're asking but I hope I helped.

        • I mean lean back on it and it stays reclined (not height adjustment). But yeah not many chairs have that unfortunately.

        • @CVonC: Can't expect that though from this, it's a very budget chair. If I were to describe it I would just use the word 'chair' because that's all it is really.

    • cant you get a replacement? dont they have warranty?

      • I'm sure they do but I got mine from Gumtree. It was still sealed and it was a lot, lot cheaper than driving to Ikea and buying it there.
Ofcs the obvious downside is no warranty which ended up biting me in the ass but hey it was still worth it despite all the shit ripping out. Still using it now just has an ugly grey color where the cover used to be.
Would recommend anyone to buy it for 30 bucks! 30 bucks is what I paid on Gumtree so if you can get it new from Ikea that's a good deal.

  • I'm pretty confident that Ikea would replace the seat if it degrades in six months. Expect at least two years use…

  • sorry ikea noob here - I tried buying online but says I need to pay service charge of like $60 is that normal? I just want to make sure they will still have stock by the time I get there on the weekend….can I call them to put some aside?

    • You can check store stock online and it usually says what stock levels are like
over the next few days with them restocking etc. gives you quite an accurate idea of whether you’re likely to miss out or not.

    • yeah i was trying to buy online and then collect in store and when i saw there was some $40 fee on top just to pick it up, i thought that was stupid.
just risked it and went to tempe today and there was probably 50ish chairs left? bought 1 anyway

  • Incredible price, but the chair wheels are terrible. Have two of these and they are only used by my young daughters (all less than 8 years old) and they both have wheels broken off (on one side of the two sided wheels). Have no idea what Ikea warranty is like (as I can't find anything on their website) and have not tried to get them to fix them yet as I can't find the receipts.

I managed to get one for the same price in WA ikea. Jus mentioned it to one of the staff, got a paper signed by the manager. Bring to the checkout counter and show them the paper, price changed to $29.
