Good price. Most places I've seen recently charge $60 and upwards for a 20kg dumbbell set

  • wow not bad!
how much are they normally at Bigw?

  • +12

How are they charging only $6 for postage…. poor postman

    • +15

At least he/she will be getting a nice workout :)

    • lol the courier would still be charging their standard delivery fee.. it's the site that will be losing out.

      • nah, the site should have a contract with Australia post for large volume delivery. Flat rate per parcel to all Australian buyers. Many large online retailers do that.

  • i bought a set like this and it was pretty good.

  • these are fantastic.

I've got a similar set, which are the same (just branded differently i suspect).

These are cast iron weights, not your average cheap weights from kmart etc. where plastic moulds are filled with sand or concrete!

+1 nice deal. Now where's some juice to go with this

  • Where do you get additional weight plates though? Are they standard sized?

    • Buy two sets?

      • Well yes, but what if I only want an extra say 10kg of weights (plus this deal is currently limited to 1 per customer)? :)

        • +1

I know, but you just pop another name on it ;)

  • exactly what i been wanting for. one way to stay away from those expensive gyms

  • I just paid $60 at KMart for a similar looking set. I never thought to look online darn it. I thought the postage would make them expensive. If they weren't for Xmas I'd take them back and get these instead.

  • Paid $70 for a set at Paul's Warehouse. $40 + $6 for shipping is a bargain. There's not much to quality with dumbells this small. As long as you keep them indoors, they won't rust.
I would buy this straight away! Bargain!

  • oo.com.au has a price beat policy and they have a 20KG set for sale, dont know they will price match this, seems the company is different, anyway i send an email to them, waiting for the reply. How long this offer is valid?
    BigW sell it for $89

These guys usually run the deal for 24hrs or until sold out! I wouldn't bother trying for a price beat, most matches are only done on purchase price, not shipping…IMHO, just do 1-day the courtesy of shopping with them if they're willing to offer good deals! Besides, who else is gonna do shipping on a 20kg item for $6? ;)

  • Awesome! Have been waiting for something like this since I missed out on the last dumbbell deal.

  • Got a set last time and they're fantastic. The build is great.

I got another pair now. They look exactly the same, so hopefully they will fit my bars.

    Top buy!!

  • Got reply from oo.com.au , they said its a different brand :), anyways I am gonna order one, its pretty cheap.

Huh..they have only 1 payment option-credit card, has anyone you guys bought stuffs from them before? I really dont wanna put my credit card info..

  • I just bought a set, just in time for my new years resolution (hopefully this one comes into fruition).

  • thank you so much i've been waiting for ages for some cheap dumbells :)

  • these are posted from NZ. some how they only charge you less than $6 for postage. wonder how though. great website. catch of the day should learn from these guys.

  • Um, unless the collars weight a combined total of 2.4 kg (almost as much as the bars) the weights don't add up to 20kg.

In my experience I would say they would only weigh ~0.1kg. This looks more like a 18kg set.

    • the handles weight 100g?

      • Sorry if I wasn't clear. The collars are the 'nuts' that hold the weight onto the bars. They are normally quite light and the only thing not given a weight.

        4*2.5 + 4*1.25 + 2*1.3 = 17.6 kg. That's quite a bit short of the advertised 20kg.

        • Generally all my dumbell sets have the bars and collars weighing in at 2.5kg (per bar and collar). So you are right this doesnt add up right..unless the collars weigh in at 1.2kg each which is possible but i would have thought the bar would have made up the majority of the 2.5kg.

  • thank you so much. I've been waiting for a very long time.

Rebel is selling this for $69, on special atm.

They are doing a stocktake sale starting on the 26th and i still have the $20 voucher … + combine this with the amex spend $60, get $30 gift card.

    hmm …

I must have got a bargain a few years back then b'coz I remember picking what looks to be identical kit as this for $30 on sale, I don't quite remember where and didn't realise until just now how good a price it must have been. So my first impression on this deal was what's the big deal about $39.99 but I guess it is pretty good after all.

You can never fit enough weight on these, particularly with the light plates they give you.

  • i got a confirmation of dispatch this morning

  • six dollars for 20kg parcel delivery is awesome.

Something nobody mentioned, which I feel is seriously important if you're going to use unsheathed dumbbells:

Buy. Some. Gloves. Pronto. Proper weightlifting gloves.

These types of dumbbells with no grip sheath over the bar seriously chaff your hands. Particularly if they have little indented patterns over the middle. I have the hardened calluses on my fingers to prove it.

    Aside from that, great deal.

  • mine arrived today. have to wait till I get home to check them out

  • Mine arrived this morning, but missing the 2 x bars! Am very annoyed, and 1-day's most immediate form of contact (Live Chat) is offline today, so am constrained to only being able to leave an Online Enquiry which I imagine will only get back to me in a few days at best >:(

    • Damn….was your box and case intact?

My cardboard box and case is shattered….obviously been dropped. The contents is intact though.

      • No, that's the weird thing, the box and case seemed more or less fine, the bars were just missing from the spots in the case. It seems like a packing defect, but one that basically renders the set useless! Am really disappointed as I'd been looking forward to starting to use the set and I don't want to go out and buy some bars until 1-day has resolved this.

        • I'm sure they won't leave you in the lurch whatever the outcome…..but yes, there is only so much you can do with eight weight plates and 4 collars!

Though, here are some suggestions: http://www.menshealth.com/weight-loss/abs-diet-weight-plate-…

        • Well, 1-day finally contacted me and were understanding enough to refund the entire amount (well, yet to be verified). Went out and picked up a $20 set of bars from K-Mart, good to have this resolved… now to work on working out :)

  • yep, mine arrived today as well… new yr rev here i come :)

  • I got all four of mine today. 3 of the handle clips on the boxes had snapped off, but everything else was intact.

  • I got mine today, it was also very badly packaged, and the case was broken.
Not that it matters, it was all there, and the quality is nice, the rings don't slip and the handles feel good.

Although it doesn't feel like 20kg, but I don't have scales to confirm.
Anyone able to weigh the bars, etc?

  • I got two of mine today… one of the package box was shattered, but both items are in great condition. Although the weight fell around in the package.. I think is from the transportation. Australia post delivered it.. and the guy who delivered.. was saying to me.. 'are you trying to kill me with these two packages?' LOL… and he started asking me were they on special because he got like 10 other ones to deliver as well.. Poor Mail man…
