Power and Gas (Victoria) Sky Rocket and I Tried to Get as Much Deal as I Can

Since the start of the year, the price for electricity in Victoria increases to roughly around 35c/kw. Therefore I tried to shop around as much as I can even though I have solar. Honestly it doesn't help much when autumn and winter is around the corner.

As far as my shopping go, I came to a conclusion that DoDo Flexi plan is the most potential because it offer 1 hour free of charge every morning from 6-7am.

As for my family we always have to wake up at 5.30 to prepare for work and as far as I concern drying our clothes is the most wasted of energy but we have no choice. Hanging clothes outside during autumn and winter don't dry fast enough for our needs, and because of our working time, during these seasons we usually ended up with wet-ish clothes. In the ends, since we wake up early in the morning anyway, we can really use that 1 hour free and set our air con a bit early to warm up every room first. Dry our clothes during this 1 hour free, to save us some money, since it usually takes roughly 1 hour to dry anyway.

What do you guy think? does anyone with DoDo Flexin plan before or with DoDo electricity in general?

    As you live in Vic
    go here
    https://compare.switchon.vic.gov.au

Enter the info for your last bill(s)
    answer a couple of questions
it will then show you the best priced options for you

All Gas and Elec retailers in vic are required to provide this site with up to date pricing information
so its a handy site to bookmark so you can check regularly.

    • Still difficult!

ie For my electricity they list supply charges
      peak, shoulder, offpeak..

When signing up it's First 11.18, rest

  • Not sure where you are getting 35c kWh. Tango is about 18c. I thought the average was about 25c.

    • around the start of this year already. Previously i was with Lumo energy, even they increased their rate to 35c, and most of my colleagues at work said so too. One more thing, didnt you heard it on the radio, Energy Australia even advertised about join up with just and sign a 2 years contract we will give you 2017 rate

  • It really depends on where you live, as each distributor will charge a different price to energy retailers, who mark them up at different rates. Best to use a government comparison site (not a commercial one like compare the market or iSelect). We pay 28 cents in peak, and I found that GloBird electricity was the cheapest for us. But there are a number of factors that come into play
    1. Where you live (distributor)
    2. Whether you pay your bills on time (ALL the time)
    3. Whther you're prepared to sign up for direct debit
    4. If you have solar or no
    5. You energy consumption habits.

    Good luck!

    • thanks mate, my distributor is Jenema, and i do pay on time to get early bird discount, i do have solar, and my energy consumption habit used to depends on the sun, if it is sunny on that day then i lets everything run wild otherwise, saving as much as i can, Since dodo offer 1 Hour free every morning, that is why i signed up,
