PSA: Amazon Third Party Seller Scams

Have been digging into this a little bit lately after ordering a cheap PS4 Pro via an Amazon AU third party seller (that will likely never arrive). I found a thread on Amazon scams which produced the below link. Looks like Amazon really don't care about fake sellers:

Coming up on 7000 'sales'. 96% negative feedback. Absolutely ridiculous.

this seller hasn't listed any items and has been inactive for eight months. they're aren't scamming anyone.

  • happened to me on amazon US. waited the requisite time, then amazon promptly refunded me

  • And Amazon is an escrow service so it holds your money until order arrival and item confirmation.

So, not really a scam. Unless you confirm receiving the item when you haven't (then you are of questionable intelligence).

It's more if a waste of time.

Unless amazon are doing this deliberately to make money from holding buyers cash for he short term and getting interest on it.

the other problem is you may lose deals in the meantime whilst you wait for the refund. If Amazon is going to "host" these sellers then they should be checking if they are legit.

  • Let us know what happens with your PS4 order. Tempted to just order it for the off chance it does actually arrive.

    • It's just been marked as posted with "AUSSIE_POST" with no tracking details. Seems legit
