What Is The Best Way to Send Bicycle from Melbourne to Sydney?

Hi all,

I have relocate to Sydney recently and I am just wondering what is the best/cheaper way to get my bicycle post from Melbourne to Sydney? I have kept it in a bicycle bag at my friend house, but he won't be coming to Sydney in near future. Thanks

Seriously, might be worth contacting some bicycle clubs in Sydney and asking them about options.

www.smartsend.com.au/index.cfm has been recommended a few times on cycling forums.

Or just hire an airtasker kid to ride it for you?

  • Are you driving to Sydney at all? Or just getting your stuff shipped over?

Donning the lycra and smashing out the 1000 odd clicks yourself. Plenty of cafes along the way for your large triple shot skinny macchiato and mixed grill big breakfast, after you've rearranged all the cafe furniture of course for your 20 cycling pals.

Don't forget the walk cyclists do because you're wearing the shoes, and then when you're at the cafe, posting on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook how 'awesome your ride was this morning'

    Pidgeon.

    3-5 days, ride it down

    Drone

    • Might need 5 drones and 4 friends to pilot them all in unison

    Bikies

    Airtasker

  • Telekinesis.

You can take bikes with you on the train - make your last trip down be by train and take the bike with you on the return trip (or drive with a friend so he can take the car back)

Sell it and buy a new one when you get to Sydney.

Try contacting greyhound bus company, they will transport items like bikes fairly cheaply.

  • Thanks for all reply. All sorted.

What did you end up doing?

Don't know if this would work.

Post it on Ebay, ask someone you know in Sydney to buy it.

Ask that person to make the payments from Paypal.

When he receives it, let him ask PayPal for a refund and so forth…

    Is there any loophole?

    • You'll still have to pay for postage
