Moto G6 (and Onwards) Shared SIM/MicroSD Hybrid Slot Not Wanted! Dedicated Slots Wanted - Feedback to Lenovo

With Moto G5s line Lenovo have taken a step back by introducing the hybrid/shared SIM and microSD slot so you can't simultaneously use microSD and 2 SIMs together on the same phone. Companies do listen to feedback so please tell Lenovo directly here - https://motorola-global-en-aus.custhelp.com/app/prod_ask/ and also on Lenovo community forums here in a dedicated thread - https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-G5S-Moto-G5S-Plus/Moto-G6-… and choice.community forums - https://choice.community/t/moto-g6-and-onwards-shared-sim-mi…

This is what I wrote to Lenovo directly:

I have been a loyal user of the Moto G branding having bought Moto G3, G4 and G5 Plus. One of the main reasons is it supports dual SIM and microSD with dedicated slots. With the recent G5S Plus Lenovo have done away with this feature and instead used shared/hybrid slots.

Please return this feature for future editions of the Moto G Line otherwise I will be forced to look elsewhere for my phone.

  • Maybe you can explain the difference to me. I have the G5s and though it did indeed have a shared physical slot for the SD card and the sim I'm not sure what the problem is?

    • I think the old ones had a dual sim tray and a further tray for a micro sd card, so 3 ‘slots’ altogether.

Yes they did, I had the G4 and G3 as well. I still don;t understand the actual complaint though as the G5S still takes dual SIMS and an SD card, they're just all in the same slot.

(edit, I think he means that it only has 2 spaces in the hybrid slot instead of three?)

          Exactly.so you can either have:

          Dual SIMs or
          1 Sim and microSD card
But not dual SIMs and microSD

          With a hybrid slot.

        • @brisdaz: Gotcha. (I was just about to pull mine out and have a look. ;) )

Would be ok if they have extra built in memory so you don't need an SD card.
