Help Me Analyse This Guy: Adrian Wee

Hi guys,
My girlfriend was recently introduced to this guy called Adrian Wee, and all he had were accolades after accolades that he showed off in his many videos. All of them had one thing in common: Getting rich quickly, and doing it his way.

It seems to be a common theme that many of them are 'kind' enough to share their trade secrets for a small sum of money, and my partner seems to be oblivious to this fact.

He charges a fee for attending his courses, and she seems to believe that he is the guru of making money, almost like the next Warren Buffet. Anything I try to say or do (even showing her the bitconnect video) have not seemed to affect her sense of judgement.

Like many phases of her life, shes entrapped by quick rich schemes and mlms, so I want to dig up some solid s*** on this guy to try and dissuade her from wasting her hard earned $$$ and time.

Has anyone had experience with him? I haven't really found any concrete stuff on him, and the things that are on his social media look promising enough.

The real question is probably how you guys solve these kind of problems with your partners.

Mod: Keep titles factual

If I knew a way to get rich quickly, I wouldn't tell anyone. I guess I'm just greedy and this guy isn't.

  • He's either scamming her or telling her things she could find out in a few weeks by visiting a library.

    SPOILER ALERT

Get some buzz words, learn how to give motivational speeches, whip up a frenzy. Get a marketing team, go on tour and regurgitate the same shit as all the other get rich quick bozos. Make up some fake reviews, buy a shit load of twitter followers. Give a conference, “take all the money!!” Write a book and release some CD’s. Get on morning TV. Rinse and repeat.

    Sit back and profit.

The only person getting rich here, is the idiot on stage waving his arms about in front of a room full of gullible morons…

Do you see Buffet running around the country selling workshops? These guys are bs artists. They’re making a living from performing on stage.

Just let your friend get sucked in and lose her money.

    Best lesson she can learn

Hi. I sympathise with you. I was in the same place about 10 years ago. All hyped up, so I know where your girlfriend is coming from.

Essentially, these people operate using a gravitas of success. But behind the curtain you can never validate if they have $50 in assets or $20 million. Why are these people continuing to stage events? Because that's their income stream.

They operate by targeting naive 20-30 year olds who have a few thousand dollars and a dream. They say the system is fool proof. They show charts. They use a carefully crafted combination of emotional techniques to make you feel positive and comfortable. They recommend dealing with companies that they earn commissions off. These companies will make huge promises, but you will rarely get any value out of them once they take your money. But you've given your money. You want success, so you pile hour after hour into their material. You buy an upgrade to the next level or course. You're still not making money… but you just need one more course to strike it rich. Surely a page from a PDF will make you rich? The sunk cost of money and time keeps you in the game. Plus your family and friends know you're doing it. If you give up - you're a failure.

Years later you learn that the smart money has bought all the property with any potential. You were sold a playground on the outskirts of a dying country town. Do you think an amateur being lead by a self confessed mentor is going to beat multi-national developers to success? Nah, the self confessed mentor is just aiming to keep you at their teet to extract as much from your wallet as possible.

The price of financial freedom is eternal vigilance. Teach yourself from many different sources. Seek council from older people who have achieved success.

        Good luck.

    I'd leave her, problem solved.

You don't have to worry about trying to find dirt on this guy. Your life will be so much better.

If she believes these con-artists over you, she's not the one.

Not many women I know are willing to spend time to try and learn how to grow their wealth over their own make-up, and I think that's one of the qualities that I love her for :)

Don't be so quick to disregard these kind of work shops. My mate attended one years ago about the fundamentals of property investment and he now has a portfolio worth millions.

They will certainly not give you all the secret and answers but sometimes the inspiration it provides is enough. Just do plenty of research and see if its worthwhile.

    • I do want her to get inspired to invest money, and I think its nice that she's trying to learn things proactively. I'm probably just afraid that she might meet with a scam artist and get burned badly. The worst kind of scam are the ones that you never realise are scams.

I've been to a few over the past few years, and even paid for some. But I've never left the feeling like I've learnt something new, instead I felt like a few good hours of Googling would've netted me the same kind of information.

    • "Die With Massive Debts"

Good for Ozzie's trillion dollar foreign debt owed mostly by private households on housing.

Just tell her that if he really knew how to get rich quick he wouldn't be wasting his time running workshops, he would be doing the thing he knows how to do. Best case scenario, running paid workshops is more profitable than the thing he is going to teach (or he would be doing that instead).

He probably is not even an OzBargain member, and couldn't beat Chuck Norris in a fight.
(Although he may have a nicely decorated flat)

The best teacher is your own research. Good mentors are far and few between, and I've seen way too many people fall into too many traps. Start off with a few classic investing books. If you're interested, I can recommend some.

apart from defamation, what were you hoping to achieve from this post?

  • You could save yourself grey hairs and trouble by ditching the girlfriend.

    • And massive expenses coming from her.

  • There's nothing wrong with it. It's not like he is trying to make you poor quickly.

Rich is good. Can't see the downside.

  • He's the Malaysian Anthony Robbins apparently, plus he can renovate a 306 sq ft area in less than 2 hours. That's two thumbs up from me.

  • How gullible is she? Does she believe in self help books? Psychics? You're in a world of trouble down the line…
