I bought one of these in Dec17 and am just getting around to opening the box!

Telstra Pre-Paid 4GX USB + Wi-Fi Plus (with SIM and 3GB Data) $9 Pickup @ Harvey Norman.

I read through the comments and it seems that people had trouble unlocking (they bricked it) it manually… (it looks too technical for me to do anyway…go easy on me here, I'm an ol' girl)….. But I didn't see a link to buy an unlock code.

Please help me with a legit link to pay a couple bucks to unlock this thing.

    I used dc-unlocker.com on mine a few years ago; from memory the unlock code was around $8USD

        I've also had success with this one: http://www.unlockcodes.firmwares4u.com/

        Dc-unlocker is pretty simple; you download the tool, plug your modem into your pc, buy credits on the tool, and unlock. Some devices are free to unlock.

        But try the other link; they give you a code you enter on the device's menu (when plugged into your pc)

          Thank you. This looks easier and straight forward..
          The linked page indicates that there is a (compulsory) 'donation' of US$10… Which means that the unlock code costs more than the dongle.
          Is this usual? For some reason I thought it would be a couple dollars (like bagman and phone unlock codes)…
          I wonder if he does this….

        I haven't unboxed it yet… An waiting until I need it.. in a couple wks.

        I emailed him yesterday to ask him, he can do it for 5 bux. I've used him a few times to unlock phones. Initially found people recommending him here on OzB. Painless and seamless.

          @MishyMoo: I mentioned the model. I don't think a modem as opposed to a phone would make a difference. It is for all Telstra locked devices.

          I think that's for a ZTE Blade D. The one we have is a Huawei E8372h.

    i tried a couple on ebay and ended up getting refunds as they couldn’t generate the code for the telstra usb which is a huawei.

    i have an optus one which was unlocked straight out of the box.

    telstra want $50 to unlock in first year …….
    so i used mine and i believe it’s free unlock after 2 years., will attach post it note to call telstra in 2 years ….

    would like to get the telstra unlocked cheap and not wait 2years.

      I got my code and it worked fine. I searched around for cheaper options but couldn't find anything cheaper.
