Cheap flights to Europe JULY/AUGUST?

Hey

Does anyone know off the top of their head of any cheap flights? I'm using Sky scanner and playing around with dates and locations via Adelaide or Melbourne.

Thank you

    It's peak season.

What dates roughly? What cities? Where are you based?

Anything under $1800 at that time of the year is a bargain.

  • Around 10th of July, returning 23-24rd August.

Yeah it's Peak, I found a fair few around $1500-1700 which isn't bad!

Maybe flying into Rome, but I'd be open to Barcelona or London etc

    Adelaide.

    • I was just about to say…

It's not just you, but all my friends always ask the initial question the same way as if they have all the flexibility in the world, which turns out not to be that flexible at all upon interrogation :)

In your case you may as well mess around with Google Flights to narrow down a date, which you then plug in to Skyscanner. It's much easier to recognise the "make my flight expensive" days via Google Flights (you have to mess around a bit though). If you were flexible you could find days in August that would get you to Rome for less than $1000 (i.e. via Skyscanner), but if you left a little later in July you start seeing Malaysian Airlines deals (OzBargain's least preferred) from Adelaide to London for less than $1200.

I don't know your budget or lifestyle but people with full-time jobs generally take the easy out regardless of options I come up with that might save $6.70. That is, leave from Adealaide.

    • just buy for that price. see if it's the same price to leave europe from a different city so that you don't double up. use skyscanner and google flights.

  • Im seeing Melb to london leaving 14 july for 30 days $987 Philippine airlines.

  • I had a look a couple of weeks ago. There were still plenty of cheapies but be prepared for longer layovers (35+ hours all up) or carriers with smaller planes (777, etc.). In the end I favoured Emirates when factoring price (~$1850), time (~22 hours) and aircraft (A380-800).

    • How is a 777 deemed a smaller plane?

  • Depending on the date and destination you can get flights close to $1,000 on the less popular airlines.

If you need to go on "brand name" airlines then not surprisingly it will be closer to $2,000.

You will have to play around with Google Flights to find dates and destinations that suit you.

  • Ideally looking to leave July 9th or 10th, and return around August 23rd-24th.

Some have mentioned flying to Singapore, and then looking at flights with other airlines.

I never thought too much about the type of plane, I've flown with so many and it's not that big a deal other than airlines like Qatar have usb chargers which is handy!

It would be easier out of Adelaide, is Google better than Skyscanner? Iwantthatflight?

    Thanks
