Home Security Alarm

Hello lovely people,

I currently have a couple of Hikvision POE cameras at the front of the house. Now, I am looking to install security alarm to enhance the security.

Can you guys please let me know of any good reliable systems out there?

Budget is up to $600. I know this is subjective, but I am after a basic system which can be upgrades in due course. I need a system that can send a SMS alert when alarm is triggered.

Please let me know if you need any other info of the house.

  • I'm using this.

Some of their kits will be within your budget and it does everything you described. You can introduce more components, update firmware and receive email notifications.

    • Where did you buy that system from?

  • +1

Check out Digoo HOSA or Xiaomi Home security.

  • Digoo HOSA looks very interesting. I'll look into that.

Does anyone have any experiences with local security alarm brands such as ADT security alarms ?

  • I wouldn't touch ADT myself in terms of components and also the cost (which you pay mostly through a monitoring contract).

I usually use "Paradox" alarm components. Not sure you can purchase without a security installers license though. The base "192" kit comes with 8 zones (although this can be expanded later with extra boards) and you don't need to cable detectors into all 8 zones to start with.

    • Thanks for that! I will stay away from them.

When you say Paradox, is this one you are referring to?

Looks like I need to book in someone to come and give a quote.

If possible could you recommend any wifi DIY alarms with SMS alerts? such as, Digoo HOSA , Chuango etc

      • Paradox - this is the company I am referring to: http://www.paradox.com/ and in particular the EVO range http://www.paradox.com/Products/default.asp?CATID=7 They are a Canadian manufacturer.

There will be companies in your local area that can install Paradox equipment if you can't get direct access to it.

In terms of DIY systems that work well - sorry mate, no idea, I have previously used the DIY level systems and they haven't performed for me so I don't bother using them. I stick to what I know lasts well and is worth spending money on. DSC is another brand that works well.
