New TV. Should I Go The Hisense N7 55"?

Hey all, I'm in the market for a new TV.

I've currently got an older Samsung 50" Full HD TV, 60Hz, Non-Smart.

I use a raspberry pi/media PC for 99% of my content and watch the occasional FTA TV. I mainly watch 720p/1080p Content (No Netflix).

I'm looking at buying the Hisense 55" N7 next time it is on sale for ~$750 (The N6 doesn't have true 4K and is 50Hz)

Questions:
-Am I making a mistake by going from a 50" Samsung to a 55" N7
-Regarding 50Hz vs 100Hz… Will the picture look "Fake"/"Too Smooth"?
-Regarding HDR, I will upgrade my RaspberryPi to a MiBox Running Kodi be able to make full use of "HDR" Content
-How will FTA TV Quality look with upscaling on 4k TV?
-Will the smart TV slow-down over time and become laggy? i.e not receive updates? I don't plan on using the Smart-TV Features at all, but figured I'd check.

P.S Where can I find the latest firmware and the correct Calibration Settings?

Thanks

  • IMO, I think that the 5 inch extra size is not worth the effort. You need to upgrade to at least a 60 inch.
    50 to 100 I don't know.
    Does that TV have HDR?
FTA TV 1080i content looks very good on a 4K 70 inch TV. Less than 1080i looks ordinary which is what it is anyhow.
My smart LG TVs are still just as fast and LG still produces the occasional firmware update for a 3 year old TV.
