Hi, you have forgotten to attach pedals.

    • +3

      I brought my socks though!

    • If you require pedals we have a great range of flat and clip pedals.

      • 2 grand without peddles… You need a head check…

        • Actually, almost all high end MTBs does not come with pedals. They are 'extras'. It's very interesting…

        • +4

Different people have different needs and wants for pedals (some clip in, some are flat, some like one brand over other etc). So this gives them the option without adding to the price. Similar to how some PCs come without operating systems. And some land cruisers come without air con.

  • So what's normal margin then 80% ?

    • Wouldn't that be nice. Thanks to a bulk buy on old stock we were able to work a great deal from the importer.

  • how much does it weigh?

    • Approx 13.2kg claimed weight

      • Lol..Be prepapared to get CRUSHED!

        • +1

Not following WTF? I say claimed weight as bikes vary from size to size and even slightly from production runs.

        • Its a full-suspension. Not really made for riding uphill :-)

Get a hardtail if you want something more practical.

        • @manic: Thats it. This is quite a reasonable weight for the style of bike. I ride a $12000 santacruz which sits around 12kg.

  • Is this actually any good? Been many years since I had a bike and I've lost track of what's what these days. Brakes, running gear etc. There's the cheapo stuff which looks ok but falls apart pretty quick so where does this sit? Looks rather enduro oriented with that long seat post and flat stem, is that the sort of riding this is best suited for? How about shipping, it's not mentioned anywhere. Lastly what size is best for someone at 180cm?

I looked closely at the next model up (Decree 3) when buying a new bike last year (ended up getting a Scott Genius) and IMO this is a very good deal on a slightly dated bike. It's trail/all mountain, so more of an all-rounder than an enduro, much better for going up, lighter, but not designed for 6 foot plus drops. Comparable to something like a Giant Trance. Shimano Deore/XT is not top of the line but is a good reliable mix for proper off-road riding. Brakes are not fancy but being Shimano Hydros will be reliable, low maintenance stoppers that get the job done (I've got some M325s that are 17 years old and still going strong!).

I'd say the main drawbacks on this model are the fork (only 32mm stanchions on a 150mm fork can be a bit flexy) and the fact that the dropper post doesn't have a handlebar remote. But for the money, a good frame, rear suspension, brand and an capable component mix is really good. It's a way better spec than something like a Giant Stance that you would normally get at that price point.

I think that sums it up pretty well. Its a little older technology, but much better 'bang for buck' than the latest model entry level bikes. Most of the entry level bikes are sub 120mm travel, this throws a lot of extra capability in the mix. The thru axles front and rear add stiffness to the frame that isn't there on $2000RRP bikes. And while the dropper post is lever actuated, this model KS dropzone has proven to been one of the more reliable options out there.

      • How does this compare to Trek Remedy 9.8? It's also on sale for a $200 more

        • Remedy 9.8 is all carbon frame - if you can get one for $2200 new buy it - cheapest one on bike exchange is ~$5K! (reduced from ~$7k)

Felt put this bike in the trail bike category. Which to me is balanced ride, you have fun on the way down and still climb in a reasonable time frame. There is a good, honest review on youtube here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw_SofoqiAk

Shipping is $88 to most of Australia. Remote areas may be additional. 180cm would put you in the large frame size, unless you have a little shorter torso or come from a BMX background and like that smaller bike feel. In which case you may go medium.

  • Why would you spend $1999 for a bike?

People leave yellow ones just lying around all about the place.

Some councils will probably even pay you to take them away.

  • Does the bike come with free servicing? Thanks

    • Two free services available at our Toowoomba Store. :)

      • oh! QLD. is the standard rate $100 + Parts

        • Usually a $66 service.

        • @j5ive: Thats a lot cheaper than melbourne, thanks for your help

  • Mostly Deore stuff. This would never ever be a $4000 bike.

    • $4299 was the RRP set by the wholesaler in 2016. I don't believe the bike was amazing value at the RRP, so they did end up with overflow. You do have to agree that $1999 is a good price though?

      • Honestly, not good. Not horrific, but not good.

        • Can you point me to a better spec'd new bike?

        • @j5ive: I just wouldn't pay that much for a predominantly Deore bike. I think the RRP is a joke and the current pricing is at the very top end of its worth. Not a big deal. Retail isn't easy.

        • +1

@Risto: I understand what your saying. However, there is no other bike available that I can see under $2000 with 140/150mm travel, dropper post and Xt derailleur. So I do think its a good deal. Just because its not for you, doesn't make it not a deal. :)

  • Ridiculously inflated RRP.
    No deal.

    • +3

Bit harsh. We didn't set the RRP. Would a lower RRP make the current price a better deal?

      • You mention what you already believe is an inflated RRP so people will go "wow, what a deal!" What are you, Kathmandu?

Although you did say you ride a $12k Santacruz, so you're oblivious to this.

        • I'm not sure what your getting at, we don't manufacture or import our own products. Just trying to run a small family owned bike shop and offer the best prices possible. I ride a Santacruz because I appreciate the quality and the way they ride.
