[VIC] Advice on Area & Schools in Narre Warren South

Hi Guys,

We are finalizing a property in Narre Warren South near Casey Central and feeling little jittery about moving. We are first home buyers and can not afford closer to city suburbs.

We currently rent in the South East suburbs and have great schools in the area. I would really appreciate inputs/insights on the area and schools in Narre Warren South for both primary and secondary. We are divided between continuing to rent in a great school zone in a good neighbourhood that we like and actually moving into our own house in NWS.

Internet search isn't super helpful beyond stating the commute to CBD is horrible which I understand it will be. Schools are a concern too. Public school ratings for NWS are pretty low compared to Glen Waverley where we rent so that's another issue.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks heaps.

This is ozbargain….. so how much your budget?
WCC is good, about $6000++ a year for prep

    • can vouch for WCC but wantirna campus tho, I heard NWS WCC is also quite good plus newer facility ?

  • Thank you. Will look it up. I have a child in grade 5 who will transition to a new school. Most christian schools in the area that I saw were not accepting kids of other religious faiths. Is WCC an exception?

  • I am a teacher in a public school in the City of Casey and live in the City of Casey as well. Generally speaking, you will find that all schools have good and bad aspects. Like any public school, we are required to take all students regardless of their background, family income, family education, aspirations, and abilities and attitudes to study and learning. In that case, comparing to the selective schools in the area you are now located, or to private schools where they can select their intake, you will probably come up with a less than flattering comparison. However, I can vouch for the fact that my school, and I would expect all of the schools in our area, work hard to ensure that all students are able to learn, to have choices, to gain skills, to develop the social and emotional capacities and to have the opportunities to become productive, compassionate and forward thinking global citizens.

If you would like to talk to me about public secondary schools in the City of Casey I would be happy to discuss via PM. I have also had a little bit to do with transition so might know some things about feeder primary schools, depending on the area.
