What Percentage of 'Freebies' Have You Actually Received from Zapals?

Seems these 'deals' appear quite often on this forum, but they are only an actual bargain if Zapals actually sends the thing you paid for.

Was home sick (and bored) in early Feb and bought 18 of the Zapals freebies/dollar deals. Now 7 weeks later 6/18 have arrived.

I kinda suspect that is how they make their money.. only actually deliver 33% or so of what people buy. Not so much freebies for us as it is free money for nothing for them.

I mean it's only $20 or so, but still I don't like being scammed. Since a number of these were advertised here on OzBargain I thought I'd see what others had bought vs what they had actually received. And thought I'd ask if OzBargain should really have a policy on advertising 'bargains' from companies that systematically do not deliver what people buy.

Anyway here's the junk I bought:

Baby thermometer -
Key knife -
Ruler-calculator - Did NOT Receive
MicroUSB->USB adapter - Did NOT Receive
USBc->USB adapter - Did NOT Receive
Led Strip Light - Did NOT Receive
Spider Phone Holder - Did NOT Receive
Credit Card Knife -
Silicon Dash Pad -
Micro Usb Male to USB Male -
Beard trimming bib - Did NOT Receive
Bullet 3 in 1 laser light - Did NOT Receive
Phone Disco Light - Did NOT Receive
Webcam Covers - Did NOT Receive
Tweezers - Did NOT Receive
Phone Pop Holder - Did NOT Receive
Glove Light - Did NOT Receive
USB SdCard Reader -

So what have other's experiences been?

  • i have received more than 10… think i actually pretty much got all the stuff i impulsively bought
just that its really slow to get here

    • So.. more than 7 weeks after they say they've shipped?

I've bought maybe 40 things from Aliexpress, Banggood and Gearbest this year. 40/40 arrived within 28 days mostly via your standard China Post. Zapals 6/18 after 46 days.

If not 7 weeks after what period would you assume they just never sent it?

  • i think i pretty much got everything. admittedly i only ordered the odd thing or two

  • I received about 10 and am still waiting. I accidentally paid full price for some of the items and haven't even received them yet. Maybe some of the items couldn't make it pass custom borders due to them being classified as weapons of some sort.

  • +1

The carbon footprint on these cheap pieces of junk to be shipping singularly from China just to be binned a few weeks later is huge if anyone gives a damn. Paying more for air conditioning, water purifying, food and such makes much more sense than giving a damn about the environment to most of OzB though, I know, I know. Its these little easy choices to not buy crap or scoop up every freebie that can make a difference though. Grab it if you need it, sure, but mindless consumption is not a thing to be proud of.

  • I just got my parcel from Zapals after ordering the 'Micro USB to Female USB OTG Adapter' "freebie" on the 5/2. Unfortunately it contained a 3.5mm to 6.3mm audio jack adapter and not the USB adapter I ordered.

  • I think I've gotten everything I've ordered but the freebies are so neat that when you're ordering things for $1 or $2.. i don't know that I track them all that well.

I'm mostly ordering torches (at $1 or $2 for a torch, they're similar to kmart/coles/woolies build quality but 50-80% less cost) and they're always useful to give away as gifts if you aren't using them yourself (e.g. for people to have a torch in their gloveboxes etc)

Some of the stuff does go in the bin but the 'success' rate is over 75% of it being stuff that was either diretly useful or indirectly by getting a chance to look at something I wouldn't otherwise have thought of (e.g. LED hinges were pretty cool!)

  • I've purchased 22 items so far, from Zapals this year, with over half of them being freebies. There is one item that I've been waiting to receive for ten weeks now. But everything else has arrived, aside from the purchases that I've made in the last few weeks. I have not contacted customer support about the missing item yet.

I pretty much always received items three weeks after they are shipped, give or take a few days. I received one item in about ten days, as it was sent from Australia.

  • 1x received and 4x missing in action here…
wont be buying from them again

    • You should open a support ticket for the missing items. If it's been more than 45 days since they were sent, you will get a refund to your PayPal account or a coupon to use.

      • …cant i just cut the middle man out and go straight to a PP claim?

I'm sure that would work too.

@rogerm22: good…i cant see the point of wasting anytime negotiating w/zapals support for a /credit/coupons etc i just want a full refund (as im entitled) for items that never arrived in the first place …esp as theyre less than $2 an order! :P
