  • Maybe you could buy one of these:

Then download a macro app or use the one in Nova launcher and bind the camera button to google assistant?

Why can't you just say Hey Google to activate Google Assistant? That's what I do e.g. Hey Google turn on Bluetooth or Hey Google take me home

Can’t you just say “ok google “?

Use your voice. That's the whole purpose of google assistant.

  • This is using an iPhone but I do find I can't get "Hey Siri" to work in the car unless the music/radio is on a very low volume. The microphone isn't good enough to pick up my command. I did buy a bluetooth siri button a while ago but had issues with it getting it to activate Siri.

  • I find OK GOOGLE works, as long as the phone is not locked.

    • You can do smart lock so that your phone remains unlocked as long as it's connected to the car Bluetooth

  • I don't know iPhones very well but you could look into using an NFC tag. They come as little stickers, which you'd in your car, then you swipe your phone over it.

  • +1 for this post. I personally use the assistant while driving everyday by saying "OK Google", but it works ~60-80% of the times. I have a Galaxy S8, which should not have performance issues. Sometimes calling the assistant just does not work. This thread is worth bringing back alive, especially since QLD introduced $1000 fines for touching your phone while driving.
