Made an Order for a Phone on LightInTheBox, Need Help Deciphering What's Going on

Hi folks, first time poster here. I bought myself a Xiaomi Redmi 5A on Lightinthebox (based on how many users here are recommending deals from the website regularly) while it was on sale and I've now found myself in a predicament. The order says it was shipped on the 19th of March and today is the last business day that it should've arrived by.

On March 26th, their customer support sent me a message saying that the postcode they had for me was incorrect. Weird, considering it was already shipped according to their website and considering that it was definitely the right postcode. I replied saying that it's definitely [insert postcode here], and they said they forwarded that information to the shipping company.

When I finally figured out that they weren't sending it through DHL and instead 4PX, I stuck the tracking number into a website and got a result that I don't quite understand. The only update listed is from March 22nd and says, "Shipment arrived at facility and measured." However, right above it, it also says "In Transit". Usually they say when they're in transit with a separate update, right?

I'm a little panicked because I'm going to Europe on the 6th of April and was planning to bring this phone with me instead of my Galaxy S8. Am I royally screwed, or is this totally normal? Thanks in advance!

What method of shipping did you choose? They have Expedited Express, but no mention of DHL? Did you make an assumption of what courier they're using? I personally see their times as an estimate that can be a few days out.

Different tracking websites and carriers have different ways of displaying their updates. Most often they're translated from Chinese if the package hasn't reached Australia yet. "Shipment arrived at facility and measured." sounds like it has reached the 4PX processing centre and has been scanned in. It's either waiting or has been dispatched to Australia.

Despite Chinese sellers offering express shipping it's always best to order a month before as they can get delayed for various reasons. And finally have you contacted the LITB rep? He is very helpful.

      • I chose Expedited Express and it said that it's being shipped through HK DHL-4PX, which apparently means 4PX and has nothing to do with DHL.
      • Hopefully that's the case.
      • I would've ordered it earlier, but I didn't have the money until when I ordered it.
      • No, I haven't contacted their rep on here. How would I go about doing that?

First you need to turn on private messaging here then you can PM the rep here

  • why aren't you bringing your Samsung s 8, just out of interest. I'd think that would have better camera, etc…

    • I wish I could, but it's on a lease and I think I'd owe Optus eleventy billion dollars if I ended up losing it.

ah! If you're getting travel insurance, that should help to cover for most things…

        Safe travels!

  • They often do shipment preadvised. This means shipping is booked but might not have actually left their packing facility and may sit on the status for a week or longer. Sometimes it stays as shipment preadvised until it arrives at the next postal destination.

  • Lightinthebox is the worst company I have done business with and their response to tickets is worse than useless. If you don't contact their OzBargain rep then be prepared to have months of your time wasted with lies and copy pasted statements.

  • 4px is the tracking gateway for a number of mail companies including Singapore post.
My experience with express post from Chinese sites is that things arrive near the scheduled day.
Quite often, the updates stall, then four come at once including "out for delivery".
    Good luck.

  • Any update on this? You're off tomorrow!
