OzB Pet Peeves: Doxxing, Ratio and Staning

I remember the old days when the "Last Seen" was a feature to see where a logged on OzBargainer is browsing/hiding/trolling/posting. And when a discussion (more of an argument, really) happens, and it gets heated, some OzB (there's quite a few of them) who take discussions too seriously will take that they won the discussion by posting that the other is unable to comment and went out of the particular forum page discussion.

It's gotten worse now. The detectives of OzBargain always see to it that when a somewhat unfamiliar member posts, they will be outed as a new member (if they are). What's the point of this sh1t? Does a new member's post or comment has less value because the member joined 10 minutes ago?

Ratio works both ways. If a deal has more comments than votes, most of the time it will not be a good deal. But what is BS is a good deal gets 2000+ clicks but only 50 votes. Now, some members really don't mind whether they get 0 votes or a 100 votes. But c'mon. Click a little.

Staning. Oh, the fanbois of OzB. I thought staning is for teens and not cheapskates. It's like an O for some when particular members post. Which can be good or bad.

End of sh1tpost

Does a new member's post or comment has[sic] less value because the member joined 10 minutes ago?

It could if it's a ghost account.

    • Agree’d Scrooge… It does support less value if it’s attached to a shitpost for the sake of trolling as well. People are wary of 10 min old accounts becuse it’s generally a sign that someone is about to shitpost or troll and dont want their regular account banned…

    What’s staning?

If someone who joined 10 minutes ago is vehemently endorsing something in their first post then yes it's a little suspicious.

I'm just tired of new users posting either pathetic, dubious or inflammatory posts e.g. "I just crashed my high yield investment car into some bikies and don't have insurance"

    • You missed the point, the OP was obviously just referring to new members and was using that as an example.

  • It's more likely recent members joined due to publicity, not word of mouth or their own research. If you see something marginal, odds-on they joined 2015-onwards.
My bet is they read about OzB in a mainstream news article, joined and were quickly disappointed. They probably expected a hard-drinkin' weekly orgy club. Raw with disappointment, they troll, often with gibberish.

Always interesting to see when they joined and where they're from.

  • Hard-drinkin' weekly orgy. Yep they where the golden days of OzB.

Yay! @tuzii is out of the penalty box in a few days… I’m “staning” so hard for the big repatriation celebration… :D

Can we also add to this list, the pathetic, butthurt users that go over your post history just to neg every comment they can find for no other reason than they are just petulant little children that don’t like being caught out lieing or told they are wrong?

“I’ll neg every one of his posts, that will teach him a lesson…”

Neg this comment as well, ya big cry baby… ;)

Thanks! I saw my fan club stopped by to drop their 5 daily downvotes on my comments. I was getting worried they may have forgotten me or may have grown up. :D

… or may have grown up.

          Don't hold your breath.
