New i30 or Few Years Old Alfa Romeo?

In the market for my next car, intending to use company's novated lease. Prefer manual transmission and it's getting rare nowadays. Previous car was 2012 i30, wanted to try a Kia cerato hatch cos of 7 yrs warranty but can't find a manual one! But I also wanted something different instead of all the common Japanese n Korean cars on WA roads. Have the money and don't spend much on anything else as well so thinking to pamper myself a bit. Saw Alfa Romeo giulietta and looks nice, and is 1.4 turbo hatchback, haven't tried but love the looks. New is about 40k, saw a 2015 for 20k, thinking about it. Anyone have experience with this car and can advise the good and bad and also cost of maintenance? I am also a practical person. I am hoping this would be the last car I would buy but things in life is hard to predict. Welcome any advice. Cheers!

There's a reason why an Alpha Romeo gets that much depreciation in 3 years…

I would definitely choose the new i30. Much more reliable than what the Alfa will be and much cheaper to maintain.

And you are considering an Alfa Romeo

Only way this would make sense if you had a terminal disease or are 99+ and then only because you probably too old to drive….

    • An Alfa is perfectly fine to buy. It’s 2018 not 1980/90.

I30s while not terrible (and not as horrid to drive as a corolla) are still very bland and boring.

Regardless assuming you are say 30, it’s unlikely a 2018 car will last for the next day 50 years. There are going to be many advancements such as self driving and electric cars not to mention you’ll likely want another car in 10 years.

  • Pamper yourself with a Kia?

    Definately April Fools joke

  • Go for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta! Much more stylish :) maintenance will be a bit more expensive than a Hyundai (like most european cars), but it'll drive much better. The cupholder space does suck in the alfa though and the electronics are a bit behind it's time.
