[Website Reliability Check Request] www.universalflooring.page.tl

Hi OzBargainers,

Recently my parents want to bamboo carpet their house. They stumbled across this website and they said it looks good and trust worthy. However when you take a look, you will know why I made this request.

http://www.universalflooring.page.tl/

Was wondering if anyone had contacted this company before or heard any reviews?
I am just a bit cautious of this.

Or if any other ozbargainers knows a trust worthy wood/timber/bamboo flooring supplier, it would even be better!

Cheers,

CC

P.S. Sorry if I made this at the wrong section.

    1. WTF do they have their domain name in .tl (East Timor)?!
    2. Why do I get an advertisement banner at the top saying "Online Dating for Naughty People"? (also some pretty spammy ads when I navigate around their site).

You should probably request their trading name or ABN and to see whether it is a properly registered business.

    yep, .tl is East Timor

I wouldnt touch this place with a 10ft pole tbh. If they cant spend $10.year on a proper domain name connected to an abn, i wouldnt expect them to have a builders license.

imo go and visit the store, but my guess is its really dodgey

    • It would indeed be interesting to see what sort of 'demo store' do they have xD
Because on the website they said they have done a lot of road shows and trade shows… which I kinda doubt now @_@

  • Haha cheers Scotty and Davo!
I knew I could rely on the OzBargain mods =)

Thanks a lot and will tell my parents not to touch it with a 10ft pole ;)

      best of luck CC,
you can always go into their "showroom"
Google shows that they've been posting different products everywhere so perhaps the website is just a cheap way to spread their wings?

In any case, imo id probably visit them before calling them over for a quote. While you're there you should be able to see their abn etc, i'm not 100% sure if they need a builders license. May depend if its covering, or actual flooring. no expertise here.

page.tl seems to be a free webhost. Of all the free webhosts, no idea why they didn't pick at least a .com based one.

Also worth noting is their builders license with the NSW Contractor Licensing Services has been deregulated. Not sure if they need a valid one if they're just selling flooring supplies, but perhaps you may want to double check this with the department. :)

    • Thanks Pauly =)
Yes, that is the 1st reason why I find it weird. Free webhost for a low budget company seems a bit strange IMHO.

Cheers for looking up the NSW CLS! I never thought of checking that one up!
Will give them a call too =)
      Thanks a million!

I haven't used the people below but I went in to look after walking past their showroom because I have to do my floors soon. Their showroom seemed professional and the sales staff were pleasant and helpful. Their website seems ok and they seem to have them all over Australia.
    www.styleplantation.com.au

And the showroom at Alexandria was easy to get to if you are in sydney. Was more affordable than wood but is a compressed product versus solid plank.

    • Cheers will give that company a good look =)
If you don't mind me asking, did you end up using wooden/bamboo flooring?
      If so which company?
