Anyone Else Noticed Inconsistencies in Pepsi Max Products?

In the past month or two i have purchased a fair share of Pepsi Max and Pepsi Max Vanilla 2L bottles from Woolworths which have tasted undrinkable. I have just found out it is not just me noticing this though. While i have purchased bottles from 3 Woolworths stores in my local area, some of them occasionally tasting off, some family friends 50km away have also noticed the same thing with Pepsi bottles purchased in there local area.

Some of the bottles taste really bland along with some off taste i can not quite describe, while the rare bottle will taste overly sweet. About half of the bottles purchased in the past month have been affected, most of them being on the bad side with only a small number being sweeter then usual.

Has anyone else noticed this?

  • Change in recipe probably

    • I really hope not, those "off" bottles taste terrible.

  • I have noticed this, I drink Pepsi max everyday… I’ve noticed it in the 2L bottle only - the off taste. Cans have always seemed the same to me so I’ve stuck with them.

Keep a tab on the batch numbers, then give em a call and let them know your thoughts.

You'll likely get a voucher for some Pepsi products and may alert them to a QA issue.

  • Probably stored badly.

Check the 'best before' date on the bottle/can. I remember hearing something about the artificial sweetener in diet products breaking down quicker than natural sweeteners, resulting in an 'off' taste. When I see Pepsi Max on special at the big stores it often coincides with them being close to their 'best before' date.

May be you should stop buying crap

  • pepsi max is by defintion, undrinkable.

I dont mind normal pepsi though, it tastes like it has less sugar than normal coke and its a great mixer.

pepsi max is utterly swamp water.

    • Nah, Pepsi Max is my preference, then Coke Zero, then Pepsi.

Never drink Coke Light (Diet) or Coke.

Yeah i used to buy the 2l bottles and 1 out of 3 was just carbinated water, i complained and they said they would send me some as a replacement. I said i dont want a replacement, i want the problem fixed. That was 15 years ago. So i switched to cans, they were more consistent, but still 20% of the cases are still just carbonated water.

I go through, 20lt per week. When you get a good can, it tastes great.

I dislike coke, so i have no option.
